Akicita Federal is hiring an Ultrasound Echo Technologist to deliver high-quality diagnostic cardiac imaging services for the VA New Jersey Health Care System at the Toms River Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Toms River, NJ. In this role, you will directly support the healthcare needs of our nation's Veterans by performing echocardiography and ultrasound procedures that inform critical clinical decisions. - Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound and echocardiography examinations on Veteran patients in accordance with established clinical protocols and standards of care.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound and echocardiography equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality prior to each use.
- Acquire and document high-quality diagnostic images, optimizing views to capture clinically relevant cardiac and vascular anatomy.
- Provide preliminary assessment of image quality and flag findings requiring urgent clinical attention to supervising providers.
- Complete accurate, timely documentation of procedures, findings, and patient information within the VA electronic health record system.
- Communicate professionally with Veterans, clinical staff, and physicians to coordinate scheduling, patient preparation, and procedure workflows.
- Adhere to VA infection control, safety, and patient privacy (HIPAA) standards throughout all clinical interactions.
What sets candidates apart:
- Prior experience working within a VA Medical Center, CBOC, or other federal healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with VA electronic health record systems (e.g., VistA, CPRS, or Oracle Health/Cerner).
- Additional ARDMS or CCI specialty credentials (e.g., Adult Echocardiography — AE, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer — RCS).
- Experience serving a Veterans or military-affiliated patient population.
- Strong track record of adapting to high-volume outpatient clinic workflows with minimal supervision.
