OperationsProject Manager
Akicita Federal is hiring two Program Managers to strengthen financial management operations and drive cross-divisional coordination for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) — fully remote, with rare travel to Reston, VA or Washington, DC. These roles sit at the center of OCFO's enterprise operations, supporting programs that serve 575 federally recognized Tribes and roughly 1.9 million American Indian and Alaska Native people. You'll work directly with OCFO leadership to improve visibility, solve operational problems, and advance modernization initiatives across accounting, financial reporting, acquisitions, grants, and internal assessment functions.
- Coordinate cross-divisional activities across OCFO, serving as an integrator who bridges workflow gaps and keeps stakeholders aligned on shared priorities.
- Assess operational challenges within OCFO divisions and develop actionable recommendations to improve efficiency, standardization, and execution.
- Support year-end close activities, enterprise financial system operations (including FBMS and S4HANA), and other high-volume financial management cycles.
- Facilitate modernization initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce manual steps through SharePoint-driven workflows, Power Apps forms, and AI-enabled document generation tools.
- Strengthen OCFO's AI-readiness posture by surfacing use cases where automation and intelligent tools can improve cost, speed, and accuracy across financial operations.
- Enable data-driven decision-making by improving analytic capability and providing OCFO leadership with timely, reliable program visibility.
- Coordinate with bureaus, regional offices, policy teams, audit partners, and external oversight bodies to meet recurring and emergent operational requirements.
What sets candidates apart:
- Prior experience supporting federal financial management agencies, particularly within the Department of the Interior, Indian Affairs, or comparable bureau-level environments.
- Hands-on experience with AI readiness, robotic process automation (RPA), or intelligent automation initiatives within a government or regulated enterprise setting.
- Familiarity with federal financial systems such as FBMS or SAP S4HANA.
- Background supporting audit engagements, financial reporting cycles, or acquisitions and grants management programs.
- Experience working across matrixed or enterprise-wide organizational structures where influence without direct authority is essential to driving results.
