Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Service Delivery you would be responsible for supporting, designing, and implementing solutions in a Microsoft Windows, VMware, and Linux environment. Specifically, you will be responsible for;

→effectively managing the performance and troubleshooting any issue that may arise in the existing IT systems operation
→ensuring 24/7 availability to provide expert level support to any issue that may arise in System, which includes Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Patient Care, PeopleSoft and Web Servers
→taking lead in deploying and increased security for servers from any malicious software and activities
→Strong knowledge of Active Directory Roles and Group Policies. Understanding of DNS, DHCP and RDS Servers.
→identifying and eliminating of security risks to system by regularly deploying patches to the servers and preventing the environment from being affected by malicious software through monitoring and maintenance of antivirus for all servers and user PCs.
→finding gaps in the existing IT operations environment and developing innovative solutions to enhance the system and improving efficiency
→presenting new ideas and solution to management to ensure standardization of IT services to the hospital and its user
→Administration of cloud environments hosted on MS Azure.
→Good Understanding of PowerShell and Scripting Languages.
→Deployment of software updates through SCCM.
→reviewing fellow engineer’s work plans and deliverables, to ensure quality, consistency, and timeliness. Mentoring systems engineer within and across teams in facilitation and customer interaction.
→proactively monitoring servers’ health by utilizing and configuring various system management tools such as SCOM and IP monitor.
→always being available on call to support technical staff in different regions which include East Africa, London, and Afghanistan, with expert technical guidance and consultancy
→monitoring and maintaining of windows servers and administration of Microsoft Azure.
→troubleshooting and resolving all windows OS related issues and maintaining maximum up time of all business services.

Requirements

You should have/be:

a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (Microsoft and VMware certification will be preferred)
at least 5 years relevant experience in the field of IT infrastructure and Systems
strong hands-on experience on Microsoft windows, Linux, Active directory, Failover Clusters, SCCM, SCOM, SCVMM and VMware
rich experience on Microsoft Azure.
strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a business environment
a clear understanding of DNS, DHCP, RDS Servers, PowerShell and scripting languages
technical, managerial, analytical, interpersonal and organization skills
experience of network equipment including Routers, Switches, IP Phones, Modems and Cables
excellent working knowledge of up-to-date desktop applications
