Software Engineer II

Alarm.com's product ecosystem spans video, automation, access control, energy management, and more. In this role, your work will be centered on the Video domain, designing and delivering robust, scalable software solutions that make homes smarter, safer, and more efficient through intelligent video monitoring. You will have the opportunity to shape how millions of users experience video, enhancing existing capabilities while pushing the boundaries of what intelligent monitoring can do.

• →Write and maintain high-quality C#/.NET back-end code across the Video domain—including device lifecycle management and device-based features—along with the customer-facing web UIs built on top of it.
• →Own features end-to-end, taking them from ambiguous requirements through design, implementation, testing, release, and production support, and seeking out information and context as needed to deliver good outcomes.
• →Exercise good judgment. Know when to work quickly, and when to build a robust solution.
• →Participate actively in design discussions and code reviews, both receiving feedback and providing thoughtful, constructive review on peers' work.
• →Debug and troubleshoot issues across environments, applying reasoning to identify root causes and deliver durable fixes.
• →Other duties as assigned. 

• Use AI-assisted development tools as a consistent part of your engineering workflow.
• Validate AI-generated code rigorously before it reaches production: review for correctness, edge cases, security implications, and long-term maintainability.

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong object-oriented programming skills; professional C#/.NET experience preferred
• Familiarity with a modern front-end framework such as Ember, Angular, Vue, or React
• Experience with SQL databases, including DML operations, stored procedures, and writing performant queries through indexing and batching
• Experience with creating and maintaining unit tests
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work end-to-end, from design through delivery

• Familiarity with microservices architecture
• Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or messaging technologies
• Experience working with IoT and hardware
• Experience with observability, logging, error handling, and monitoring in production systems
• Experience integrating AI-assisted development tools into a professional engineering workflow
