This role is part of Alcon's Quality & Regulatory Affairs function, a team that ensures our products are in compliance with global, local, and internal regulations and meet the strictest standards of quality as we help people see brilliantly.

Technician I, Quality Control Lab - Microbiology (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for performing microbiological tasks, analyzing samples, and maintaining lab equipment to support product validation and compliance.

Specifics include:

  • Handle specific microbiological tasks, supporting operations and contributing to efficiency within defined procedures
  • Analyze various microbiological samples, ensuring accuracy and precision of analyses
  • Maintain lab equipment to support product and process validation, product release, and compliance with regulatory and company standards
  • Collaborate with affiliated departments to integrate lab results into the manufacturing process, driving problem-solving and innovation through scientific principles
  • Adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining accurate and complete documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control, and completing all required training
  • Commit to continuous improvement and contribute to the overall compliance of the organization

  • Associates are responsible for meeting their individual job requirements and contributing to the overall compliance of the organization.
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential to our operations​.
  • Receipt and logging of microbiological samples.
  • Support for routine and non-routine laboratory testing (bioburden, environmental monitoring, endotoxin testing), including test execution.
  • Preparation of laboratory instruments, reagents, etc.
  • Completion of Quality Control testing of laboratory consumables.
  • Completing Data Entry, and Ordering of supplies.
  • Adherence to all Health & Safety requirements.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • Work Schedule: 1st Shift (Monday – Friday) 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
  • Travel: 0-10%
  • Work Location: Onsite – Houston, TX

Requirements

  • Prior Laboratory experience
  • Prior experience completing analyses/inspection in compliance with standards and regulatory requirements
