Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Data Specialist is responsible for supporting a cross-functional project focused on improving article master data quality within Microsoft Dynamics Navision. The role will assist in reviewing, cleansing, standardizing, and documenting item master data to increase data accuracy, transparency, and compliance, particularly in preparation for customs and business audits.
- Review existing article master records in Navision.
- Identify inconsistent article naming conventions and descriptions.
- Analyze current article numbering structures and document deviations.
- Support identification of duplicate, obsolete, inactive, or unused ("dead") articles.
- Assist in developing and applying standardized article naming conventions.
- Support implementation of a consistent article numbering structure.
- Improve article descriptions to ensure clarity and usability.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of master data records.
- Create and maintain project documentation, reports, and data analysis files.
- Support development of guidelines for article creation and maintenance.
- Document criteria for identifying and managing inactive articles.
- Assist in defining blocking, archiving, or deletion procedures.
- Analysis of existing article master data.
- Recommendation for standardized article numbering structure.
- Standardized article naming and description guidelines.
- Classification list of obsolete and inactive articles.
- Data quality improvement report with recommendations.
- Documentation of future item master governance rules.
- Good MS Excel skills (sorting, filtering, pivot tables preferred).
- Basic understanding of ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Structured and analytical working style.
- Good communication skills in German; English is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of business data.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Student, business administration trainee, logistics student, supply chain student, or administrative assistant with strong data management skills.
- Experience in data entry, master data management, procurement, logistics, or ERP administration is beneficial.
