Head of Retail Risk, Banking (Open for Expat)

ACG_1965_JOB Our client is a leading bank in Vietnam who is looking for a talent to join their firm: Scope: Oversee comprehensive risk management for various loan products including retail mortgage loans, secured business loans, car loans, cash loans, credit cards, overdrafts, BNPLs, consumer, and household business lending, acquired through digital channels, third-party sourcing, and over 230 branches and sales hubs. Products: Engage in the entire product development lifecycle, optimize risk/return balance for products, identify market opportunities, refine customer targeting strategies, and ensure timely market launches. Underwriting: Supervise and adjust retail underwriting strategies, conduct champion-challenger tests, provide field feedback for strategy improvement, balance approval time and rates, and detect fraud in applications and transactions. Portfolio Management: Oversee and promptly adjust credit portfolios, perform stress tests, establish effective early risk triggers, and manage all factors affecting portfolio quality, including changes in customer profiles, sales channels, incentive schemes, debt collection, and recoveries. Analytics: Utilize application, behavioral, propensity, and other scorecards, cluster portfolios, apply advanced analytical tools to detect shifts in customer segments, and develop forward-looking forecasts. Efficiency: Continuously improve lifetime cost of credit, cost-of-risk versus return, single account profitability modeling, asset pricing, and collateralization. Innovations: Lead the implementation of AI and GenAI technologies. Alternative Data: Profile customers using social networks, digital footprints, mobile operators, gamification, and app usage data. Compliance: Lead Advanced IRB initiatives, calibrate PD/EAD/LGD, and ensure proper loan loss coverage in compliance with IFRS 9 and local accounting standards. IT: Provide consulting on IT architecture for mass lending, credit decision-making platforms, and Open API integration. Content: Develop comprehensive collection procedures, policies, and documentation. Partnership: Act as a business partner to various departments including Retail Business, Collections, Finance, HR, IT, BI, Operations, Legal & Compliance, and Fraud Prevention. Team Building: Build, lead, and develop teams to meet the highest industry standards. Requirements Must-Haves: A Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. At least 5 years of management experience in retail risk management within banks or financial companies. Proven experience leading teams of over 35 full-time employees. Exceptional people management, mentoring, and leadership abilities. Proficiency in working with IT platforms that support retail business, such as LOS, decision engines, AI/ANI applications, Open API, and tokenization. Strong skills in business partnering. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Fluency in English; proficiency in Vietnamese is a plus. High level of responsibility and integrity. Good-to-Haves: Professional certifications in risk management. International experience. Experience with digital transformation initiatives. Knowledge of local and international regulatory frameworks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
