Amber is an entirely new way to buy and sell power, designed for a world powered by renewable energy. We give customers direct access to the real-time wholesale electricity price as it varies every 5 mins and the technology to shift more of their energy usage to the times when cheaper renewables are available in the grid. It’s a cheaper way to buy power, a smarter way to sell power, and the fastest way for Australia to reach 100% renewable energy.

We are a clear category leader in Australia for home battery automation and are growing rapidly (over 70k customers). We have also recently expanded into licensing our core technology to utilities overseas, including a partnership with E.ON Next in the UK.

Amber is backed by top Australian and international investors including Square Peg, Main Sequence, Breakthrough Victoria, Commonwealth Bank, NRMA, Gentrack, ETF Partners (UK/Europe based), and E.ON Next.

We are scaling rapidly and you’d be joining a team of nearly 200 employees committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and purpose-driven culture as we transform a major industry.

Our products are reshaping home energy: Amber for Batteries cuts bills by exporting stored energy at wholesale prices of up to $19/kWh, and Amber for EVs enables the cheapest, cleanest charging. In 2025, we will push this even further with our new vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.

About the Role

~2 min read

At Amber we believe that enabling a culture where everyone at Amber is set up to do the best work of their lives and feels connected and supported is one of the most important things we can do to ensure Amber’s long-term success.

This is a high-impact generalist role sitting within our leadership operations. You'll work directly with our executive leadership team to make them more effective — managing their time, keeping things running, and picking up whatever needs to be done. You'll also own the day-to-day of our Melbourne office, making sure it's a place our team loves to work. We see this role as a force multipler; to enhance the leadership efficiency and ensure they can deliver to their full potential, and to nurture our headquarters as a place that people want to come to work.

We're not looking for someone who wants to stay in their lane and perform repeatable work. We want someone who sees this role as a launchpad for their career — someone sharp enough to spot what needs doing before being asked, and hungry enough to grow into more responsibility over time.

You'll report to the Senior People Operations Manager and work closely with the Executive Business Partner, as well as the entire extended leadership team and stakeholders right across and external to the business.

This is a full-time, permanent role, based in Melbourne, with the expectation that the successful candidate can be in the office on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (at a minimum), with flexibility to work from home on other days. We are also open to considering candidates who want to work 0.8 FTE 🙂

  • Manage complex, fast-moving calendars for senior leaders — resolving conflicts, protecting focus time, and making sure they're always prepared for what's next
  • Own end-to-end travel coordination including flights, accommodation, ground transport, and itineraries for domestic and international trips
  • Draft and edit communications, briefing notes, and agendas on behalf of leaders — writing that's crisp, accurate, and in the right voice
  • Track actions and follow-ups across leadership meetings, chasing and closing loops so nothing falls through the cracks
  • Anticipate needs before they're articulated — understanding enough about the business and each leader's priorities to stay a step ahead
  • Own the Melbourne office day-to-day — supplies, equipment, facilities, and vendor relationships, making sure things work before anyone has to ask
  • Coordinate new starter onboarding logistics — desk setup, building access, equipment, and a warm welcome on day one
  • Liaise with building management and external service providers, handling issues promptly
  • Keep shared spaces functional, tidy, and reflective of the kind of workplace we want to be
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee or service provider questions
  • Design and lead some of the company social events for the Melbourne Office
  • Support with all hands coordination and set up
  • Partner with people operations and leadership teams to support culture initiatives
  • Support board and committee meetings end-to-end — scheduling, board packs, logistics, minutes etc.
  • Maintain the governance calendar, tracking key dates such as board meetings, regulatory filings, and reporting deadlines
  • Manage board-related correspondence and act as a professional first point of contact for board members and external stakeholders
  • Support company secretarial tasks and general corporate administration, including maintaining registers and filing key documents
  • At Amber, we hire self-starters who are eager to learn and are comfortable working in a changing environment. Some of the key things we are looking for in this role:

  • 1–3 years of EA, coordination, or admin experience — you've had a taste of this world
  • Exceptional organisation and attention to detail — you notice what others miss
  • Strong written communication — you write clearly, concisely, and in the right tone for the audience
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion — you can read a room and you know when to keep things close
  • Adaptability — things change quickly here and you thrive in that environment rather than fighting it
  • Proactive by nature — you don't wait to be told; you identify the problem and solve it
  • Genuine curiosity about business and technology — you want to understand what we do, not just support it
  • You’d be a part of a rapidly growing team of over 200 with expertise across energy, technology, marketing, and operations.
  • Enjoy a lively, collaborative workspace at our buzzing Melbourne CBD headquarters in the heart of the city
  • Flexible working hours with provision for regular work from home arrangements.
  • Equitable gender-neutral parental leave policies.
  • An external Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) for mental health support.
  • Competitive salary and share options in Amber.
  • Annual Learning & Development budget to support your personal growth.
  • Additional PTO between Xmas & New Year
