Product Manager - Value Add Cable Assembly

Job Description Summary:
The Product Manager - Value-Add Cable Assembly is responsible for driving growth, profitability, and strategic direction for AIO's value-add cable assembly business. This role owns the commercial and operational product strategy for engineered cable assemblies, harnesses, connectorized assemblies, and related interconnect solutions, from customer need identification and RFQ response through quote execution, launch readiness, production support, and lifecycle management. The position partners closely with sales, engineering, program management, purchasing, quality, and operations teams across Endicott, NY; Mesa, AZ; and Nogales, MX to align customer requirements with scalable manufacturing solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, cross-functional leadership, manufacturing awareness, and the ability to translate customer applications into profitable, manufacturable assembly opportunities.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Lifecycle Management
Own the value-add cable assembly product strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle from opportunity identification through production maturity and ongoing margin improvement.
Identify target markets, applications, and customers where AIO can expand connectorized cable assembly, harness, and engineered assembly solutions.
Develop product positioning that highlights AIO capabilities in connectors, cable assemblies, ruggedized interconnect solutions, quality, and North American manufacturing support.
Analyze customer demand, market trends, and competitive offerings to recommend new capabilities, product enhancements, or strategic investments.
Business and Financial Oversight
Drive gross margin, revenue growth, and profitability for assigned value-add cable assembly programs and product lines.
Lead pricing strategy, quote review, cost model validation, and margin analysis in partnership with sales, sourcing, engineering, finance, and operations.
Support make-versus-buy, capacity, tooling, material, and labor assumptions for new and existing assembly opportunities.
Monitor business performance, forecast activity, KPIs, customer demand changes, and risks impacting profitability or delivery performance.
RFQ, Quotation, and Program Launch Support
Lead or coordinate RFQ responses for cable assembly and harness opportunities, ensuring commercial, technical, quality, and manufacturing inputs are aligned before submission.
Partner with engineering and operations to review customer drawings, specifications, BOMs, routings, labor assumptions, test requirements, packaging needs, and special process requirements.
Coordinate cross-functional launch readiness, including prototype builds, first article requirements, customer approvals, documentation, supply chain readiness, and transition to production.
Support design-for-manufacturability discussions by balancing customer requirements, connector selection, cable design, process capability, cost, and manufacturability.
Cross-Site Manufacturing and Operational Coordination
Serve as a key commercial and product liaison between AIO teams in Endicott, NY; Mesa, AZ; and Nogales, MX to support consistent execution of value-add assembly programs.
Work with operations to understand capacity, labor planning, equipment needs, process constraints, lead times, customer priorities, and opportunities for standardization.
Coordinate with quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues affecting customer satisfaction, margin, on-time delivery, or program execution.
Support continuous improvement efforts related to quote accuracy, manufacturability, customer communication, documentation, and production handoff.
Sales, Customer, and Market Engagement
Partner with direct sales, distribution, and global account teams to identify, qualify, and win value-add cable assembly opportunities.
Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and business discussions to understand applications, requirements, timing, volumes, quality expectations, and competitive positioning.
Develop product messaging, capability overviews, and sales tools that promote AIO's North American cable assembly value proposition.
Capture voice-of-customer feedback and translate it into business priorities, capability gaps, product improvements, and strategic growth plans.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
Build and communicate short- and long-term growth plans for value-add cable assembly, including target customers, key applications, capacity needs, and margin improvement opportunities.
Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority by setting clear priorities, driving accountability, and maintaining alignment between customer commitments and operational readiness.
Prepare business reviews, opportunity pipelines, forecasts, and management updates for leadership.
Demonstrate sound judgment in managing customer expectations, launch risks, commercial commitments, and escalation
Qualifications - Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
5+ years of experience in product management, business development, program management, applications engineering, operations, sales, or a related commercial/manufacturing role.
Experience with cable assemblies, wire harnesses, electromechanical assemblies, connectors, interconnect systems, or engineered manufacturing solutions strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to support RFQs, pricing, quotation reviews, cost analysis, margin management, and customer-facing business discussions.
Experience working in manufacturing environments with cross-functional teams, preferably across multiple sites or regions.
Ability to travel to customers and AIO sites, including Endicott, NY; Mesa, AZ; and Nogales, MX, as business needs require.
Knowledge/Skills:
Strong business acumen with the ability to connect customer needs, technical requirements, operational capability, cost, and profitability.
Working knowledge of BOMs, routings, drawings, labor assumptions, quality requirements, and manufacturing readiness concepts.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively with sales, engineering, quality, supply chain, finance, operations, and customers.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple opportunities, programs, deadlines, and stakeholder priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable translating technical and operational details into clear commercial recommendations and leadership updates.
