In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating the designs, implementations, and integrations of radar systems within avionics suites. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of radar technology and avionics integration, combined with experience in reviewing and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards. Your role will support the government in overseeing and ensuring the integrity, performance, and compliance of radar systems developed by contractors for military or defense applications.

  • Conduct in-depth technical reviews of radar system designs, documentation, and test results submitted by contractors or third-party developers.
  • Evaluate radar system implementations for performance, reliability, and compliance with government and military specifications.
  • Ensure that radar systems are appropriately integrated with avionics platforms, including verifying interface compatibility with other subsystems (communications, navigation, electronic warfare).
  • Ensure radar systems meet regulatory requirements and adhere to relevant standards (FAA, MIL-STD, DO-178, DO-254, etc.)
  • Provide feedback to contractors on potential issues or areas for improvement in design and implementation, ensuring that systems meet project objectives and safety requirements.
  • Oversee testing procedures to validate system performance in both simulated and real-world environments, ensuring that radar systems function as intended within the broader avionics architecture.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, including system specifications, test plans, and verification/validation reports.
  • Prepare detailed reports and briefings for government stakeholders on the status of radar system development, integration, and testing.
  • Provide recommendations for certification and acceptance of radar systems based on technical assessments.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to government project managers, providing subject matter expertise in radar and avionics systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including contractors, vendors, and government personnel, to resolve any technical issues that arise during radar system integration or testing.
  • Collaborate with program management teams to ensure radar systems are delivered on schedule and meet mission-critical requirements.
  • Stay current with advancements in avionics communication technologies and data fusion methodologies.
  • Recommend and implement innovative solutions to enhance system performance and capabilities.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance, required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
    • Specialization or coursework in radar systems, signal processing, or radio frequency (RF) engineering is preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in radar systems engineering, avionics integration, or related roles in aerospace or defense.
  • Prior experience in government or defense contracting, particularly in roles overseeing or reviewing contractor-developed systems.
  • In-depth understanding of radar systems and avionics integration principles, including radar theory, waveform design, and RF technologies.
  • Familiarity with military and government standards (MIL-STD-1553, DO-178, DO-254, etc.)
  • Strong ability to review technical documentation, test reports, and system specifications, providing constructive feedback to contractors.
  • Familiarity with FAA or military avionics certification processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex technical designs.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting and collaborating with government stakeholders and contractors.
  • Ability to work within the framework of government acquisition programs, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and timelines.
  • On some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, travel may be required.
