Job Summary
The Equity Assistant Manager, under the direction of the Social Issues Commissioner, supports the creation of safer spaces for students, connects students with resources, and engages with and promotes social justice and human rights issues on campus. This is to be accomplished by working closely with campus and community groups and resources to facilitate education, create awareness, advocate for human rights and provide spaces where everyone feels welcome. Primarily, the Equity Assistant Manager will oversee the Racial, Ethnic, and Cultural Inclusion Coordinator, Marketing Deputy, and Collective Reflections Editor-In-Chief (and their team) and will have a focus on coordinating the commission’s events, educational initiatives, disbursement of grants/bursaries/awards, and other special projects.

Job Duties
Support in the fulfillment of the Commission's mandate at the direction of the Commissioner, exercising day-to-day management authority over assigned portfolios.
Reach out to clubs and groups on campus to build community and to see how they would like to be advocated for
Create policy/advocacy points to highlight to the university on how we can be better address equity- and anti-oppression-related gaps
Maintain consistent communication with all relevant stakeholders, responding to e-mails in a timely manner
Supervise the Racial, Ethnic & Cultural Coordinator, the Marketing Deputy, the Collective Reflections portfolio, aligning their work with portfolio goals and the Commission's priorities.
Create a timeline of projects for the year, with guidance from the Commissioner
Maintain regular weekly office hours
Support in cross-portfolio collaboration, and ensure deliverables are consistent with its approved scope, timeline, and budget.
Coordinate activities with the Commissioner by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high stress, and ensure any issues are properly escalated, where appropriate
Monitor volunteer and/or employee performance to mitigate disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures and notify Commissioner of any issues that arise
Coordinate equity-related grants and awards through the full cycle: promotion, intake, review and adjudication, disbursement, recipient follow-up, and year-end evaluation.
Coordinate the Equity Caucus, including scheduling meetings, setting agendas, tracking action items, and following through on caucus priorities.
Coordinate the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the Collective Reflections initiative alongside the Collective Reflections team.
Coordinate the menstrual equity project across its full lifecycle: sourcing and distribution, campus rollout, budget tracking, and impact measurement.
Help maintain the equity library and keep it accessible to students.
Help coordinate education and programming broadly, including workshops, training materials, and educational resources for students and staff.
Participate as an active member on hiring panels to keep the commission adequately staffed
Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings
Complete other duties as assigned by the Social Issues Commissioner.
