Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Revenue and invoicing. Create and submit  invoices to customers, maintain deferred-revenue and revenue-recognition workpapers, and prepare monthly revenue entries for review.
  • Transaction documentation. Coordinate with team members to gather receipts, expense backup, and approvals required to code and close expense transactions accurately.
  • Month-end and year-end close. Process payroll, fund 401(k), post journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications; prepare close schedules, workpapers, and variance analysis.
  • Account reconciliations. Maintain recurring reconciliations across cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, payroll-related accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Day-to-day transactions. Support accounts payable, expense coding, and fixed-asset accounting across multiple entities.
  • Benefits and payroll accounting. Process payroll-related entries, reconcile carrier invoices, and partner with HR and our PEO partner.
  • Audit and tax support. Prepare documentation for tax returns and R&D tax credits, respond to inquiries, and coordinate with our external tax firm.
  • Process improvement and automation. Apply an AI-first lens to recurring workflows. Identify opportunities to script, template, or automate steps and partner with leadership to implement them.
  • Experience & expertise. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience); 2–4 years of accounting experience.
  • Accounting fundamentals. Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes; demonstrated experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Excel proficiency. Comfortable with lookups, pivots, and reconciliation schedules.
  • AI curiosity and adoption. Already using AI tools in your workflow, or actively leaning in. We are not the right fit for someone whose answer to every problem is “we’ve always done it in a spreadsheet.” Curiosity matters here.
  • Reliable execution with oversight. Comfortable working day-to-day with a senior advisor, taking direction, asking good questions, and owning your tasks end-to-end.
  • Detail orientation. Treats reconciliation discrepancies as puzzles, not chores.
  • Communication. Clear, direct written and verbal communication with employees, vendors, and leadership.
  • Work ethic and integrity. Smart, hard-working, high integrity. Collaborative. We have a no-jerks rule and we mean it.
