Public Sector Account Executive/ Project Manager
Quick Summary
Manage public sector furniture projects from contract award through final installation; on time, on budget, and to the agency's expectations.
Public Sector Account Executive/ Project Manager | Furniture Division |Omaha
AOI is growing and we're ready to add a dedicated expert to our Furniture Division focused entirely on the public sector market.
If you're someone who thrives on complexity, builds lasting relationships with government clients, and takes pride in seeing a project through from start to finish, this role was built for you.
This is a high-impact hybrid position for someone who is equal parts trusted advisor and operational leader, a person who knows how to win public sector business and deliver on every promise made. You'll represent MillerKnoll, the #1 furniture brand in the world, backed by AOI's 40-year reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and partnership, with the credibility of our cooperative contract vehicles behind every conversation.
What You'll Do
- Own the Full Lifecycle: Manage public sector furniture projects from contract award through final installation; on time, on budget, and to the agency's expectations.
- Lead Client Relationships: Serve as the single point of contact for state, local, and federal government clients, building the trust that keeps them coming back.
- Navigate Government Procurement: Work confidently within cooperative purchasing programs and government contracts to bring the right solutions to each agency.
- Develop New Opportunities: Identify and pursue new business within the public sector market through agency outreach, industry events, and cooperative contract engagement.
- Coordinate for Delivery: Direct project timelines, field teams, and internal resources to ensure every commitment becomes a reality.
- Represent AOI: Grow AOI's presence in the public sector through client meetings, government-focused events, and community engagement.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 3–5 years in project management, account management, or a related field; furniture, AEC, or interiors industry experience strongly preferred.
- Public Sector Familiarity: Knowledge of government procurement processes, cooperative purchasing vehicles, or public sector sales is a meaningful advantage.
- Relationship Builder: A natural connector who earns trust with agency stakeholders and maintains it over the long term.
- Operationally Sharp: Highly organized and detail-oriented; you manage multiple complex projects simultaneously without letting anything slip.
- Clear Communicator: Confident and professional in both client-facing settings and internal coordination.
- Tech Savvy: Comfortable with CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software.
What Will Make You Successful Here
- Ownership Mentality: You don't hand things off and hope for the best. You stay engaged from first conversation to final punch list because that's how trust is built.
- Complexity as Confidence: Government procurement isn't simple, and that's exactly what draws you to it. You see the complexity as an advantage, not an obstacle.
- Relationship Depth: You're not motivated by volume. You're motivated by earning the kind of trust that makes an agency ask for you by name on the next project.
- Operational Discipline: Timelines, specs, documentation, and follow-through are where you shine. You're the person clients rely on because things simply don't fall through the cracks.
- Team Collaboration: You partner naturally with AOI's design, operations, and installation teams to deliver an experience that reflects well on everyone, and keeps clients coming back.
Here, you’ll find
- The opportunity to partner with high-performing teams and world-class brands across Omaha and beyond.
- A proven sales process and dedicated support system designed to help you win, from first contact to final install.
- A culture that values independence, celebrates achievement, and rewards growth.
- The freedom to build your career and make a lasting impact on the clients and communities we serve.
