Apex is hiring a Project Scientist/Arborist to be based in Seattle, WA. At Apex, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated group of talented engineers, scientists, and multi-discipline professionals on projects that vary widely in size and complexity- each making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. This role offers significant room for professional growth.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Conduct tree and vegetation surveys, develop and implement vegetation protection plans, conduct hazard tree assessments
- →Provide environmental compliance inspection and oversight on construction projects in the Puget Sound Region
- →Field collection of environmental samples (air, water, stormwater, wastewater, soil)
- →Routine regulatory reporting related to stormwater, wastewater, solid/hazardous waste, and air permit compliance
- →Prepare environmental management plans related to stormwater pollution prevention and spill prevention
- →Problem solving through selection and implementation of pollution prevention Best Management Practices for discharge permit compliance
- →Assist with the evaluation and permitting of environmental projects
- →Presentation of environmental topics to employees, clients, and contractors
- →Travel to project sites within Washington and Oregon required
- →Represent Apex in a safe and professional manner both internally and externally
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field
- CESCL certification required (must be maintained during employment)
- ISA Certified Arborist® required (must be maintained during employment)
- TRAQ certification preferred
- Demonstrated experience in arboriculture, tree care, or urban forestry
- Demonstrates sound arboricultural judgment in assessments and recommendations
- Experience collecting field samples of soil, groundwater, surface water, stormwater, wastewater, and air using standard environmental protocols
- Experience preparing regulatory reports and permit-related documentation
