At Appfire, we believe that great work happens when people get to choose how they work. After 20 years of creating software that empowers teams to break silos and collaborate seamlessly, we've learned that one size does not fit all. That’s why at Appfire, you choose.

About the Role

~2 min read

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead the development of the Comala Document Management (CDM) app for Confluence Cloud. CDM is a workflow management platform that enables organizations to control, review, approve, and govern content through structured, auditable processes.

In this role, you will shape how teams manage document workflows within Confluence Cloud, designing solutions that help organizations—particularly those operating in highly regulated environments—maintain compliance, process integrity, and document control without sacrificing collaboration. You will work at the intersection of workflow automation, compliance requirements, user experience, and the Atlassian ecosystem, creating powerful yet intuitive tools that transform standard Confluence pages into controlled, reliable, and auditable documents.

We are looking for a strategic product leader with experience building products in compliance-heavy, workflow-driven environments such as medtech, fintech, GRC, or other regulated industries. You have a proven track record of defining product strategy, launching new capabilities, and evolving existing products based on customer needs and business objectives. You are highly analytical, comfortable defining and tracking product metrics, and use data to inform decisions and measure success.

The ideal candidate combines strong product management fundamentals with a deep understanding of operational workflows, risk management, and process governance, enabling them to deliver solutions that drive both user value and business impact.

  • Define the Product Strategy and Roadmap: Develop and maintain a clear roadmap for the Comala Document Management, aligning with both the company’s business objectives and Atlassian’s evolving Cloud platform architecture.
  • Design Document Workflows and Compliance Features: Drive the development of core capabilities like custom approval workflows, electronic signatures, and audit trails, ensuring they meet the strict compliance needs of our enterprise customers (e.g., ISO, FDA 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Deepen the Atlassian Integration: Collaborate seamlessly with engineering to leverage Atlassian’s APIs (like Forge or Connect), ensuring the app feels like a native, high-performing extension of the Confluence Cloud experience.
  • Champion the User Experience: Translate complex document control requirements into intuitive, frictionless user stories, making it easy for Confluence users to build workflows without getting bogged down in technical administration.
  • Drive Marketplace Growth and Adoption: Monitor Atlassian Marketplace metrics, analyze customer feedback, and track user behavior to inform feature prioritization, improve retention, and drive cloud migrations.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, technically minded product leader who deeply understands the B2B SaaS landscape, particularly within the Atlassian ecosystem. You thrive on taking complex, rigid requirements—like regulatory compliance, multi-step approvals, and audit trails—and translating them into elegant, user-friendly experiences. You don't just understand how to build software; you understand how teams work together to review and finalize content. You are an empathetic listener who can jump on a call with an enterprise customer to troubleshoot a workflow, then turn around and collaborate with engineering to architect a scalable solution utilizing Atlassian's cloud infrastructure.

  • Atlassian Ecosystem Experience: Proven product management experience within the Atlassian ecosystem (Confluence, Jira) or similar B2B SaaS marketplace platforms.
  • Workflow & Document Control Expertise: A strong understanding of document lifecycles, approval routing, electronic signatures, and version control.
  • Compliance Literacy: Familiarity with building software for regulated industries or handling strict compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001, FDA regulations, SOC2) is a massive plus.
  • Technical Aptitude: The ability to effectively collaborate with engineering teams on cloud architecture, APIs, and platform integrations (experience with Atlassian Forge or Connect is highly desirable).
  • User-Centric Design Focus: A track record of designing intuitive UI/UX for complex, multi-step processes, ensuring that administrative tools remain accessible to everyday users.

This Product Manager will play a key role in shaping workflow-driven solutions that require precision, compliance awareness, and operational scalability. The team is specifically looking for someone capable of navigating ambiguity while maintaining strong product discipline in regulated environments.
