Training & Safety Technician – PL4-Glycols - Decatur, IL
This is an hourly position. Monday-Friday. Overtime available with pre-approval.
Pay Rate: $34.00 - $39.00/hour based on experience 

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Plant Manager with dotted line to Safety Manager, this role is responsible for coordinating learning and development and supporting daily health and safety functions at Glycols.

Job Functions:
Training:

• Coordinate training process improvements and standardization across the plant.
• Provide and update training material for shift personnel; initial shift training, continuous training and required PSM training.
• Track onboarding training.
• Track Department Qualification training for all Departments.
• Track Yearly and 3-year training as required by HR, EHS, and TPS compliance.
• Provide proficiency audits and recommendations for future training to superintendents.
• Coordinate Tech Trainings / Classroom Trainings as required or suggested for all site personnel.
• Interacts directly with colleagues at all levels to schedule training activities.

Safety:

• Work closely with department leadership to achieve Safety Action Plan success. Provide constant and consistent mentoring along with training and public presentation as necessary.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and policies through consistent monitoring and auditing.
• Provide accountability for safety reporting requirements in a computer safety management system (Sphera).
• Act as a champion and mentor for colleague safety engagement that comes in many forms.
• Have integral involvement in incident investigations and resulting improvements.

General:

• Display a commitment to lead, participate in, and support ongoing safety engagement.
• Provide feedback, mentorship, and support to the facility through the use of Continuous Improvement concepts and tools.
• Serve as a trusted resource for plant and department leaders using Continuous Improvement methods for sustained results.

• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn and utilize other standardized systems.

• Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls.

Education/Training:

• Minimum of a high school diploma/GED.

Experience:

• Experience with Performance Excellence, Total Process Management, Continuous Colleague Development, A2E(Ability to Execute) or similar continuous improvement systems is preferred.
• Practical experience with developing and delivering training is preferred.
• Prior ADM plant experience is required.

Working Conditions:

• Able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot and cold temperatures and a dusty or wet environment & various chemicals safely.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to ascend and descend stairs
• Ability to move/transport 55 pounds
• Sit and stand for long periods
• Work in confined spaces
• Work at heights
• Bending and kneeling
• Be respirator qualified

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
