Who we need
We are looking for a Production Supervisor to join our day shift team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this is an opportunity to apply your leadership in assembly and production operations to a space where every project matters. You will manage day-to-day production operations by following plant policies, procedures, and processes and inspire and guide the work of a team.
This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is a full-time role, working in our facility in Scarborough. Core hours of approximately 7:00am–4:30pm, with flexibility required based on operational needs.
What’s in it for you
Operational ownership. This is a critical leadership role on the day shift, where you will drive the full assembly operation, actively shaping the plan. You will lead from the front, setting direction for downstream shifts and ensuring alignment across production.
Strategic impact. In this role, your leadership directly influences safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets. You’ll be the bridge between strategy and execution - making decisions, solving problems, and ensuring assembly operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your contribution will drive measurable results and strengthen overall performance across the organization.
Dynamic environment.
You will operate in a highly variable production environment with defined peak seasons (summer and winter), requiring adaptability in leadership, workforce planning, and execution. During non-peak periods, you will focus on planning, process improvement, and readiness.
Supportive Leadership. You’ll be working under a leader known for developing his team, promoting from within, and empowering people to grow. The coaching style is supportive, hands-on when needed, and focused on helping you succeed. This role offers a path toward Plant Management or broader operational leadership opportunities.
You will:
- Lead a large team. You will oversee Line Leaders and Coordinator, with direct responsibility for approximately 25–30 full-time employees, scaling to 80–90+ during peak seasons. You will mentor and train teammates, deliver meaningful performance reviews that accelerate professional growth, and ensure that health and safety standards are always met.
- Execute assembly operations. You will ensure all assembly work is completed on time, with the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDMS). You will establish standard work procedures and task matrices, schedule team members and equipment, and make recommendations for labour requirements based on forecasted and scheduled demand.
- Own daily operational planning and performance. You will begin each day by reviewing prior performance, aligning labour and materials, and preparing the team to execute against daily production targets.
- Collaborate across functions. You will work closely with supervisors and other cross-functional departments, ensuring alignment and seamless operations. You will also partner with health and safety committees to implement improvement initiatives.
- Balance floor leadership and business operations. You will spend approximately 60–70% of your time on the production floor, with the remaining time dedicated to planning, reporting, cross-functional meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement. You will apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to identify opportunities to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities, and optimize performance. You will engage the team to suggest and implement improvements in productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Ensure optimal performance. You will monitor equipment and initiate appropriate action with supporting teams, departments, and vendors to ensure availability and optimized performance.
- Lead through people. You will build trust with a tenured workforce, prioritizing relationship-building, clear communication, and visible leadership on the floor to drive engagement and performance.
- Champion safety, quality, and change. You will reinforce a strong safety and quality mindset while driving change management initiatives in a structured and people-centric way.
You bring:
- The experience. You bring operations leadership, ideally in a manufacturing or assembly environment. You have supervisory experience managing large teams and understand core manufacturing principles, including metrics management, capacity planning, financial budgeting, labour planning, scheduling, material flow, inventory management, lead time, and waste reduction. You are familiar with health and safety regulations.
- The technical knowledge. You are proficient in Microsoft Office and Smartsheet, and have experience working with ERP systems. You are comfortable using digital tools, including basic AI tools, to support analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making (e.g., data interpretation, workflow optimization, reporting insights).
- The leadership. You have the confidence to make thoughtful decisions and the ability to build trust with labourers, peers, and senior leadership. You can influence and motivate a team, mentor future leaders, and consistently deliver on KPIs. You may have exposure to Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- The collaboration. You bring strong persuasion and relationship-building skills. You know how to partner with cross-functional teams and management to ensure shared goals are met.
- The adaptability. You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and are comfortable leading through change. You bring a hands-on, people-first leadership style and are highly visible on the production floor.
The salary for this role is $78,000 - $98,000. Compensation is thoughtfully determined based on your experience, skill set, and alignment with our internal compensation framework. We’re always happy to answer questions about compensation throughout the hiring process.
What you can expect from the interview process:
- A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor discussing your interest in the role and your experience. The conversation will be recorded using BrightHire, an AI-powered video interview tool. More details will be shared when you are invited to interview.
- An interview with the Plant Manager. This will be a chance to share your experience and knowledge and learn about the team and the production processes.
- An interview with the VP for Commercial Operations and representative from HR. This will be a chance to ask questions about the team, the company, and growth opportunities.
