Air is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our fast-paced Accounting team. You will be responsible for ensuring the transparency and integrity of the financial information that will support Air’s mission, its employees, and the national security community we serve.This is a critical role in preparing the company for public company standards within a dynamic, high-growth environment.

You will work closely with the CFO and the accounting manager for SOX & SEC reporting, as well as the rest of the finance team and will have the opportunity to help build scalable financial processes and controls from the ground up.
 
In order to do this job well, you must be a team player, possess a high level of emotional intelligence, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, and have a natural attention to detail. You are a strategic thinker who understands the significance of corporate culture, cares deeply about people, and has a can-do attitude regardless of the challenge that is thrown your way. You must be unafraid of learning about and digesting new reporting requirements and synthesizing them for internal dissemination.
 
This role is a full-time position located out of our office in Arlington, VA.
This role may require up to 5% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a seamless close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare, and post monthly journal entries to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and ensure they reflect the highest level of integrity.
  • Partner in building and documenting SOX-compliant internal controls.
  • Collaborate with auditors and internal stakeholders to maintain trust and transparency.
  • Be an active participant in establishing systems and processes that positions Air for continued growth.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Required Skills: 
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, ideally in a blend of public accounting and corporate financial reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related fields.
  • CPA or CPA candidate.
  • Hands-on leadership preparing and/or supporting SOX compliance and PCAOB audit requirements.
  • Experience preparing for or supporting SEC reporting processes (e.g. Forms 10-K, 10-Q).
  • Highly detail-oriented; able to work independently with periodic CFO and accounting manager check-ins.
  • Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets and financial systems skills.
Desired Skills: 
  • Experience in or exposure to the nuances of a startup or other entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience working with NetSuite.
