About the Role

To lead and perform maintenance, repair, and installation of pumps and associated systems, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation while supervising and guiding a team of pump mechanics.

Responsibilities

→ Lead and supervise pump maintenance activities (preventive, corrective, and breakdown).
→ Perform hands-on maintenance, including dismantling, inspection, repair, and reassembly of pumps.
→Coordinate daily work assignments and provide technical guidance to team members.
→Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in compliance with safety standards and procedures.
→Conduct fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of pump and piping system issues.
→Monitor equipment condition and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
→Ensure proper use of tools, lifting equipment, and maintenance procedures.
→Verify job completion quality and accuracy before equipment is returned to service.
→Complete work orders and maintenance records in CMMS (e.g., SAP, Pronto).
→Assist in planning maintenance activities and estimating labor/material requirements.
→Support root cause analysis (RCA) for pump failures and recurring issues.
→Ensure proper housekeeping and maintenance of workshop and work areas.
→Train, mentor and develop junior mechanics and apprentices.

Technical Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Pump Mechanics or related field.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience working Fitting / Pump Mechanics (mining or industrial environment preferred)
Proven experience in a leading hand or senior artisan role
Strong knowledge of pump systems and maintenance practices
Experience with slurry and high-wear environments (advantageous)
