About This Role

Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical plant and equipment to ensure equipment availability, reliability, and operational efficiency, in compliance with operational standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul pumps, conveyors, crushers, screens, feeders, gearboxes, bearings, valves and piping systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform equipment alignment, bearing and coupling replacement and other mechanical fitting activities.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, planned shutdowns and breakdown maintenance.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and identify potential failures before breakdown.
  • Execute maintenance activities in accordance with approved work orders and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide feedback on equipment condition and completed work.
  • Comply with all HSE requirements, including Lockout/Tagout, isolation, Permit-to-Work and risk assessment procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and proper care of tools, equipment and spare parts.
  • Liaise with Contractors and/or Construction teams on mechanical tasks related to refurbishment, planned work, and other activities aligned with the overall work plan and schedule.
  • Take personal responsibility for personal safety and the safety of all mine workers affected by assigned tasks.
  • Participate in all required training, development and performance improvement programs.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned
  • Minimum of Mechanical Engineering Technician Part II Certificate, Technical/Vocational Certificate or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Mechanical Technician Certificate of Competency issued by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within a processing plant or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault-diagnosis skills.
  • Practical experience in fixed-plant maintenance, including pumps, conveyors, crushers, gearboxes, bearings and related equipment.
  • Experience with planned maintenance, plant shutdowns and breakdown response.
  • Exposure to a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) would be an advantage
  • Strong safety awareness and understanding of isolation/ LOTO requirements.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and respect other people's values and opinions.
