SUMMARY:
Operate and maintain Hot Isostatic Press and associated systems. Inspect, troubleshoot and make repairs to the vessel furnace, base heater and auxiliary equipment.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
General Plant:
- Develop and maintain effective communication to contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
- Adhere to and participate with company safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform work following all company quality standards and customer specifications to ensure a quality product is being produced including required documentation.
- Accurate use of shop floor business systems.
- Maintain all equipment to ensure proper utilization.
Autoclave Preparation:
- Plan the location of parts, the quantity and position of thermocouples, and gather parts based on specifications.
- Fabricate, test and install thermocouples required for the cycle.
- Transport, inspect and clean parts as required.
- Load parts on fixtures, decks or secondary container per specification.
- Inspect, make repairs and troubleshoot the vessel furnace and base heater which could include: electrical wiring, contactor and insulator repairs, thermocouple harness repairs, mechanical repairs, removal and replacement of all vessel components including skirt, retainer rings, power feed through, thermocouple glands, bottom nut, vacuum system and high pressure piping.
- Install main furnace over parts in vessel, test power and thermocouple signals. Insert top closure after inspecting and changing retainer o-rings.
Autoclave Operation:
- Gather information and complete Hot Isostatic Press (HIP) cycle data sheet.
- Run cycle using all HIP systems including vacuum, gas storage, water cryogenic systems, valves, and recording devices.
- Open vessel after properly reclaiming and exhausting gas using all HIP systems.
- Unload and inspect parts.
- Document and report all functions as required.
NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Material handling
- All other duties as assigned or directed by management.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- VIM, powder, or PAM melt experience preferred
- Able to read, understand, and work to melt procedures, specifications
- Read and use gauges and controls.
- Maintain required records and heat reports in a legible manner.
- Capable of operating industrial controls and mobile equipment.
- Familiar with basic computer operation.
