Compensation for onsite WA applicants is $100,000 to $120,000 annually. All applicants are welcome to apply.

What can I expect in this role?
The Metrologist is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining measurement and calibration systems that ensure the accuracy and traceability of dimensional and process measurements. This role supports AST by establishing measurement standards, analyzing data, and implementing best-practice metrology methods to ensure compliance with requirements.

What will I be doing?

- Advisory Roles: Advise technical staff and management on selection of proper equipment, standards, and best practices.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Manage calibration program and maintain measurement devices (micrometers, CMMs, scales) to ensure they meet standards and specifications.
- Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of QC Technicians.
- Inspection: Inspect finished products, new parts, and tools for dimensional accuracy and quality, often using complex equipment.
- Procedure Development: Create, document, and refine measurement methods, protocols, and standards.
- Data Analysis: Analyze measurement data to ensure consistency and troubleshoot discrepancies, reporting findings.
- Develop measurement programs for automated inspection systems.
- Support new product development by advising on measurement feasibility, tolerancing, and inspection planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Expected travel: <10%
- Bachelor’s degree in Metrology or related engineering field is required.
- 5+ years of metrology or precision measurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills.
- Experience with CMM operation and programming; experience with advanced metrology tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take and successfully pass a drug test.
