Availity is seeking a knowledgeable Cloud Database Administrator III to manage our company’s cloud-based databases. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain secure, high-availability database systems in compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH). This role is critical to ensuring data integrity, security, and performance across our cloud platforms.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in database administration, with a focus on cloud environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in data modeling, indexing strategies, and performance optimization within MongoDB and PostgreSQL environments.
- In-depth knowledge of MongoDB replication and sharding, along with PostgreSQL partitioning and performance tuning techniques.
- Working experience with NoSQL and SQL query language required.
- Working experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Working experience with source code version control (Git).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty).
- Experience with healthcare information technology a plus but not required.
- General understanding of database security practices and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, PCI DSS).
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Database management and maintenance: implement, manage, and maintain various production MongoDB, Aurora, and RDS shared databases across AWS environments.
- →Ensure database performance, security, and availability.
- →Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- →Monitor system performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks.
- →Implement and enforce database security protocols to protect sensitive healthcare data.
- →Collaborate with IT, development, and compliance teams to support business objectives.
- →Maintain documentation for database architectures, processes, and compliance activities.
- →Stay current with advancements in cloud database technologies and healthcare data regulations.
