Your Role:
Reporting to the Lead, Operational Excellence, the Operational Excellence Specialist supports the implementation of Avid Performance System (APS) practices and assists in the execution of continuous improvement activities. In this early‑career role, the Specialist works closely with the Operational Excellence team to document processes, gather data, identify basic operational inefficiencies, and apply foundational Lean and Six Sigma tools under guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Operational Excellence priorities in collaboration with cross functional partners, ensuring alignment with defined objectives.
- Apply basic Lean principles and tools to assist with daily improvement activities and contribute to continuous improvement projects with measurable outcomes.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and efficiency to support data driven decision making.
- Support continuous improvement projects using introductory Lean Six Sigma, project coordination, and basic change management practices under the direction of OE leadership.
- Utilize foundational Root Cause Analysis tools to support investigations related to deviations, OOS results, and CAPAs, helping identify effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in deploying Lean process improvements across workflows for testing, documentation, systems, and internal SLAs while maintaining compliance with cGMP and regulatory requirements.
- Help prepare, coordinate, and facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement workshops.
- Reinforce Lean principles and standard improvement tools with functional teams to support adoption and sustainment of improved processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to document current and future state processes and support implementation and monitoring of improvements.
- Minimal travel may be required for site visits and stakeholder meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+years of experience in process improvement, operations, or a related function within a biomanufacturing or regulated environment
- Exposure to or participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foundational knowledge of GMP and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using data to support decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas).
- Experience with process mapping and documentation tools (e.g., Visio).
- Formal Lean Six Sigma training (Yellow Belt preferred).
- Experience using Microsoft Lists, Smartsheet, or similar workflow and project-tracking tools.
- Familiarity with change management principles in regulated or cross-functional environments.
Compensation:

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
In this dynamic role, expect a blend of regular activities like sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional physically engaging tasks such as lifting objects up to 25 pounds. The work environment might expose you to electrical shocks, toxic chemicals, vibrations, or loud noise levels occasionally.
