Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Analyze, investigate, and action MRP messages, including shortages, rescheduling, cancellations, order changes, and other planning exceptions.
- →Investigate root causes of material and schedule issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- →Review demand, supply, inventory, purchase orders, work orders, and lead time to identify potential constraints.
- →Coordinate with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to resolve material and production issues.
- →Develop and implement stopgap solutions to mitigate shortages and minimize impacts on program schedules.
- →Monitor material availability and proactively identify risks before they affect production or customer commitments.
- →Communicate schedule impacts, material risks, and recovery plans to Program Managers and relevant stakeholders.
- →Maintain accurate planning data and ensure MRP actions are completed in a timely manner.
- →Investigate and action material shifts caused by engineering changes before, during, and after production.
- →Analyze Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) and Manufacturing Routings to identify any discrepancies.
- →Manage Manufacturing Orders throughout their lifecycle assuring Engineering Change Notices are accurately communicated to Production.
- →Track open issues through resolution and escalate risks or constraints when appropriate.
- →Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, MRP execution, and overall supply chain performance.
- →Report regularly on KPIs to leadership.
Requirements
~2 min read- Completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in supply chain management, business, engineering or a related field. Substitutions -- Educational requirements can be substituted by years of experience in a Planner, Materials Planner, Supply Chain Manager, or similar role by hiring level:
- 1-4 years
- 5-10 years
- 11-16 years
- 17-25 years
- Must be extremely computer literate and agile, strong Costpoint ERP and MS Excel skills is a plus.
- Working knowledge of MRP systems.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
- In-depth understanding of MRP concepts including bills of material and demand.
- CPIM, CSCP, or CPSM certifications are strongly desired.
- Must enjoy team collaboration and networking for problem resolution.
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to details.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem solving and reasoning skills to assist with resolution of issues.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Capability to interpret data.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
- Computer, copier/printer/fax machine, filing cabinets, label maker and scanner.
- Basic computer operating system (Windows); Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint). Costpoint ERP software. Jira & Vault a plus.
