Join a growing multidisciplinary architecture and engineering team that is expanding its presence in the Charlotte market. This office is young, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and focused on building a strong local civil engineering practice while supporting meaningful public and private sector work. The team partners across civil engineering, architecture, environmental, water/wastewater, planning, and related disciplines to deliver projects that support commercial development, public facilities, parks and recreation, community spaces, and infrastructure improvements.

This is an opportunity to step into a visible role with significant growth potential. The selected professional will help shape a developing site/civil practice, mentor emerging talent, contribute to technical standards, and support client relationships in one of the Southeast’s fastest-growing markets. The role offers professional development support, a flexible culture when needed, comprehensive benefits, retirement plan with company match, paid time off, holidays, and bonus opportunities. This is primarily an in-office role in Charlotte due to the collaborative nature of the team and the need to mentor younger staff.

  • Lead and support site/civil design work across commercial, public, institutional, parks and recreation, and land development projects.
  • Produce and oversee civil plans, grading, site layout, drainage, stormwater, erosion control, sediment control, and infrastructure design.
  • Support projects ranging from compact commercial sites to larger public facility, parks, trails, and recreation developments.
  • Prepare and review stormwater reports, hydrology and hydraulic calculations, SWPPP documents, civil plans, and technical reports.
  • Help mentor and develop younger civil engineering talent while building a collaborative technical culture.
  • Coordinate with clients, internal design teams, contractors, permitting teams, government agencies, DOT representatives, and local jurisdictions.
  • Support permitting, entitlement, as-builts, platting, and project closeout activities.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure plans and reports are accurate, constructible, and aligned with applicable requirements.
  • Contribute to proposals, client meetings, relationship-building, and pursuit efforts as the Charlotte practice continues to grow.
  • Bring an ownership mindset to a developing office where strong performers can shape their long-term career path.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred; other engineering degrees may be considered with strong site/civil experience.
  • 6+ years of site/civil experience preferred; strong PE-track or licensed candidates with slightly less experience may be considered.
  • PE license strongly preferred; NC or SC PE is ideal, but an out-of-state PE with ability to obtain reciprocity may be considered.
  • Experience with site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater, infrastructure, erosion control, and sediment control.
  • Civil 3D proficiency preferred.
  • Experience with stormwater design tools, hydrology/hydraulics, and report preparation.
  • Familiarity with local/state permitting and agency coordination; North Carolina experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers, review work, and help establish technical standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability or potential to interact with clients, agencies, contractors, and internal teams.
  • High-energy, collaborative, accountable, and excited by the opportunity to help grow a developing office and practice.
