About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data systems that support analytics, reporting, and business decision-making. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, and analytics, and requires both strong technical expertise and the ability to translate business needs into reliable data solutions.

You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and optimized for reporting and advanced analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build robust data systems and pipelines
• Analyse, organise, and prepare raw data for modelling and analytics
• Evaluate business needs and objectives
• Combine raw information from diverse sources
• Enhance data quality and reliability
• Identify opportunities for data acquisition
• Develop analytical reports using data science techniques

Required Skills

Data Engineering Expertise

• Strong data modelling and SQL/database design skills
• Proficiency in ETL/ELT processes
• Expert-level SQL and Python programming
• Understanding of different data modelling techniques (e.g Kimban, star and snowflake schemas etc) 
• Data quality techniques 
• Data normalisation

Cloud and Big Data Technologies

• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Snowflake)

Business Intelligence & Analytics

• Experience designing and delivering BI and analytics solutions
• Strong understanding of semantic modelling and reporting layer design
• Experience with Sigma Computing preferred, or equivalent BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik
• Ability to translate business requirements into dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics solutions
• Experience optimising datasets for reporting performance and usability
• Strong understanding of KPI design, metrics frameworks, and data visualisation best practices

Additional Desirable Skills

• CI/CD knowledge
• Experience with JIRA/Asana for project management
• Familiarity with Airflow, Fivetran, Matillion, or other ETL/ELT tools
• Agile working methodology
