About the Role
The Director of Trade Operations reports to the Vice President of Trade Relations and is responsible for supporting all trade operation activities. This function is critical to effective operations of the group and the achievement of sales and margin targets. Works closely with Market Access and Strategic Accounts, Legal, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. The Director, Trade Operations, will provide the Vice President of Trade Relations with account-level analytics & insights, operational support, and representation of the Trade Department with key cross-functional business partners.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for directing customer order flow, performing inventory analytics, and providing customer service support to wholesalers. Responsible for working with multiple vendors and assessing data to inform organization of trade-related activities and provide actionable updates to senior management. The individual reports to the Vice President of Trade Relations and will collaborate on industry communication, customer interaction, and forecasting, and will also collaborate with the Sales, Market Access and IDN account teams to provide the support needed for commercial operations.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with external supply chain to the management of product shipment logistics, inventory levels, and other related outbound activity issues relating to distribution; act as the point person with the buyers
- and customer service; drive effective operations with wholesaler stocking, identifying areas of opportunities and efficiencies; provide smooth logistics, positive customer experience and effective issue resolution
- Direct the management of systems and tools such as daily management and review of 867/852 data to ensure data integrity and adequate data flows between the company and distribution vendors and wholesalers so that trade and distribution is positioned to support company objectives; analyze customer dynamics and communicate findings to appropriate audience, as required
- Develop and communicate distribution-related analytics and reporting to ensure accurate information and timeliness; provide analytic support for order flow, days on hand inventory, product sell out to pharmacy, and analyze inventory trends vs. customer order trends; review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, analyze market trends, monitor competitive intelligence, customer trends and recent business activities in an effort to maximize sales and profitability
- Support key internal stakeholder teams with analysis of customer utilization data to ensure all aspects of customer interaction and contract compliance are in place to maintain the proper service levels required to provide access of all Azurity’s products to patients who need them
- Develop financial models, analytical tools, and business presentations as needed to support Trade related projects
- Effectively direct and execute the monitoring of trade account level data and provide internal teams with insight to shape overall business strategies
- Review customer inventory levels for all Azurity NDC’s via Azurity’s selected data aggregator and internal inventory reports; monitor trends and provide timely demand vs. supply analysis for areas of concern with customer and/or product inquiries
- Direct and manage the wholesaler segment in supporting internal operational functions, including management of ordering patterns and shipping changes due to holidays, end of quarter and end of year; optimize allocation of inventory to appropriate inventory levels across the wholesale channel
- Support Trade Operations with timely up to date tracking of DSA contractual terms, payments and ROI; assist in modeling and analytics of potential contracts for proposals. Trade contract negotiation, review and execution within the approved strategy and guidelines and terms
- Support the Vice President and Directors of Trade Relations & Channel Management in trade functions and executing annual plans
- Collaborate in cross-functional efforts as appropriate (manufacturing, quality, medical, regulatory, customer relations, legal, sales operations, supply chain, market access, etc.) to address broad-based customer service needs, supply opportunities or challenges and ensure implementation of solutions
- Address Sales Team reported stock outages by researching and resolving product availability
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, Health Care related field preferred
- 5+ years of related experience in the pharmaceutical industry and understanding of the pharmaceutical business OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in sales and forecasting analytics processes
- Experience in planning, execution and project-management and analytical skills required
- Directing and managing multiple tasks effectively, independently and in a timely manner to meet the business needs
- Proficient with Microsoft tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Willingness to travel by air and car for meetings, industry events, and other business needs
Preferred Qualifications
- An advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, MS Pharm, BSN, MBA) is preferred
- Ability and willingness to work independently as well as with team members
