Scheme Objectives

The Bassadone Automotive Group Graduate Sponsorship Scheme has been a cornerstone of our commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering academic excellence. Over the years, we have celebrated numerous success stories, with some graduates achieving remarkable milestones in their careers.

 

Building on this legacy, BAG has now revamped the scheme to provide even greater support and opportunities for aspiring professionals. Now known as the BAG Emerging Talent Scheme, this enhanced initiative offers a comprehensive package that includes academic and performance-based bonuses, personalised mentorship, and exclusive access to BAG’s extensive Learning and Development hub. Participants will also benefit from engaging in internal workshops, conferences, and networking events, all designed to empower them with the skills, insights, and connections needed to thrive in their careers.

 

Scope

This policy applies to all undergraduate and postgraduate students who are eligible and selected for the BAG Emerging Talent Scheme.


Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scheme, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a recognised university or college programme relevant to a career field related to our business.
  • Demonstrate academic capabilities.
  • Exhibit leadership potential and commitment to their chosen career.
  • MUST undertake all summer internships with BAG (minimum 1 month per academic year).
  • Candidates must be open to engaging in learning & development sessions, delivered either on-site or remotely, as offered by the company.
  • Have no existing sponsorship agreements with other companies.

 

Additional desirable criteria:

  • Students who feel aligned to our corporate Vision & Values.
  • Students who participate in extracurricular activities or are actively involved with charitable organisations and/or participating in charity events.


Application Process

The application process will be conducted through our online platform, accessible via a link shared on our social media channels, school forums, and the Bassadone People website. Applicants will be required to submit a CV, a cover letter, and any additional information necessary for the selection process. You will be required to attend an interview.

 

Selection will be based on academic merit, information provided during the application process, and demonstrated behaviours aligned with the Company Vision & Values. Additionally, the Company’s People Resourcing Strategy will play a key role in determining the number and profile of students selected each year, ensuring alignment with future talent needs and strategic workforce planning.

 

Emerging Talent Scheme Tiered Benefits: 

First-Year Students

  • Financial Support: £1,000 and a laptop (or £500 towards a similar device). This essential tool will aid students in their academic pursuits, enabling research, assignment completion and maintaining connections with peers and professors.
  • Mentorship: Pairing with a mentor for academic guidance.
  • Learning & Development: Carefully designed student learning pathways offering basic soft skills training to assist with their studies and student life. 
  • Networking: Invitations to two main company events, providing an opportunity to experience our people and culture firsthand.
  • Internship – Gain valuable, paid summer internship experience that provides practical skills and real-world insight into the workplace.

 

Second-Year Students

  • Financial Support: £1,000
  • Performance-Based Incentive: An additional £500 for a 2.1 avg and £1,000 for a 1st avg based on first year performance.
  • Mentorship: Pairing with a mid-level mentor for more in-depth career advice and support.
  • Learning & Development:  Access to advanced courses and internal workshops, available remotely, covering topics such as project management, leadership, responding to change, stress awareness, diversity and inclusion.
  • Networking Events: Invitations to two main company events and the annual management conference.
  • Internships: Gain valuable, paid summer internship experience that provides practical skills and real-world insight into the workplace.

 

Final-Year and Postgraduate Students

  • Financial Support: £1,000
  • Performance-Based Incentive: An additional £500 for a 2.1 avg and £1,000 for a 1st avg based on second year performance.
  • Internship Performance Bonus: Up to £500 bonus based on internships exemplary performance evaluations.
  • Mentorship: Pairing with a Manager or Senior Manager mentor for comprehensive career development. 
  • Learning & Development: Access to specialised and targeted learning and development opportunities (e.g. career-specific skills, interview skills, performance management, emotional intelligence, resilience).
  • Remote Paid Project: Students will be assigned a tailored project that align with their academic studies, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts. This project will be allocated at the start of the academic year to allow for thoughtful planning and to ensure it complements, rather than conflict with, academic commitments.
  • Networking Events: Invitations to two main company events and the annual management conference.
  • Internship Opportunity: A one-year, post-graduate internship will be awarded to the most outstanding sponsored student. Selection will be based on a combination of academic performance, internship contributions, and overall engagement with BAG throughout the duration of the sponsorship.


Job Offers: Consideration for full-time roles upon graduation, with priority given to exemplary sponsored students (subject to suitable role availability).


Students with 1yr Industrial Placements: 

It is expected that students will prioritise BAG as their initial point of contact when seeking an industrial placement opportunity. 

 

Responsibilities of Sponsored Students

Sponsored Students are expected to:

  • Maintain the required academic standards.
  • Complete their education within the agreed timeframe.
  • Participate actively in internships and training events.
  • Adhere to the company’s code of conduct and policies during internships.
  • Actively engage with the company and represent the company positively.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • The student’s academic performance will be reviewed on an annual basis.
  • Internship performance will be assessed through feedback from supervisors.


Termination of Sponsorship

The company reserves the right to terminate the sponsorship and/or request the student to repay sponsorship funds if the student:

  • Fails to maintain the required academic standards.
  • Does not fulfil internship commitments as outlined above.
  • Engages in misconduct or violates company policies.
  • Voluntarily withdraws from the educational program or switches to an unapproved field of study.
  • Takes any action which negatively affects company reputation.
  • Violates the terms and conditions of the sponsorship agreement in any other way.

 

Review and Amendments

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.  Amendments to the policy will be communicated to all stakeholders in a timely manner.

 

Participation in this BAG Emerging Talent Scheme is subject to the Company’s Terms and Conditions, which incorporate a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in accordance with internal policy. Sponsored students are required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding any internal information related to the Group to which they are exposed. Similarly, BAG upholds the same obligation and does not disclose any information about the Talents. All personal data is handled in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
