The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring Banner Engineering’s compliance with global trade regulations. This position combines strong technical classification expertise with process improvement, risk mitigation, and global collaboration responsibilities. The role supports accurate trade data, efficient global operations, and continuous improvement initiatives while helping protect the company from trade-related risk and supporting international growth.
This position reports to the Global Trade Compliance Export Manager

Responsibilities

- →Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Title 19 of the CFR and other governmental agency regulations and best practices
- →Analyze products to determine eligibility under various FTAs.
- →Interpret Rules of Origin, Regional Value Content (RVC), tariff shift requirements, and de minimis provisions.
- →Perform origin determinations using Bills of Materials (BOMs), sourcing data, and manufacturing information.
- →Maintain qualification records and supporting documentation.
- →Review supplier certifications and origin declarations for accuracy and completeness.
- →Support customs audits, verifications, and government inquiries.
- →Advise business stakeholders on the trade implications of sourcing and manufacturing changes.
- →Identify opportunities to maximize FTA utilization and duty savings.
- →Prepare management reports on FTA utilization, duty savings, and compliance metrics.
- →Support automation and digital trade compliance initiatives.
- →Lead Free Trade Reconciliation
- →Collaborate with internal SME to learn review process for potential export licensing requirements for items under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR); submit via Snap-R as needed
- →Learn as applicable US and global laws on export sanctions-related denied party screening, embargo country management and similar
- →Contribute toward continuous improvement, risk mitigation and refining of export compliance program
- →Collaborate with the team to provide in-depth analysis and creative problem solving to support the business
- →Support the continuous enhancement of global trade compliance programs through participation in special projects, process improvements, and implementation of new trade initiatives.
- →Perform additional trade compliance, customs, and global trade program responsibilities as assigned
- →This role may lead project teams or coordinate efforts across departments but does not have direct supervisory responsibility over other employees.

- 5 or more years of Trade Compliance experience with a focus on export
- Strong understanding of international business
- Technical expertise regarding governmental agency laws, regulations, best practices and related issues
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills to manage relationships between people at all levels of the organization and externally
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in International Business or related field; comparable years of experience in international trade compliance will be considered
- Customs Broker License an advantage; strong desire to attain will be considered
- Oracle EBS and Microsoft Office Suite experience
