The Fall 2026 L&D Transitional RN Residency for experienced RNs is now accepting applications. If offered, the program will begin on November 16, 2026.This position is for experienced RN's wanting to go into Labor & Delivery with a minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting. Training opportunities are exclusively available at South Miami Hospital.

Most or all positions for L&D will be for night shift

The Registered Nurse is a licensed professional able to demonstrate the following core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership and service. This course is designed to provide nurses with theoretical knowledge needed to provide holistic family-centered care to women, their infants, and family members during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum period; and is targeted toward registered nurses who are new to perinatal nursing. Content included in the program is appropriate to nurses who are experienced, but new to perinatal care.

Qualified candidates interested in the Labor & Delivery Residency must:

Have a Current FL RN License
Have a current BLS for Healthcare Provider card
Have 1 year of current RN experience in a hospital setting (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. All Associate Degree nurses hired after 2/2012 accepted into the program must agree to achieve their BSN degree within 3 years of start date.
Complete Transfer Acknowledgement Form in the Employee Self Service.

Candidates selected will need to provide the following documents:

Copy of Nursing Degree/Diploma or Official/Unofficial Transcript indicating the nursing degree awarded
Copy of FL RN license
Copy of BLS for Healthcare Provider card issued by BHSF
