  • The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Accounting Department by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization’s financial records and reporting. This position utilizes 5+ years of general accounting experience to assist Accounting Management with the preparation of financial statements, reconciliation and review of balance sheet accounts, and the execution of month-end and year-end financial close processes. The Senior Accountant is responsible for recording and analyzing financial transactions, maintaining the general ledger, and resolving discrepancies to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. 
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information. 
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies. 
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries. 
  • Assists with external review by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors. 
  • Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements. 
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential. 
  • Record and remit sales tax from customers. 
  • Cross trains on multiple functions within the Accounting Department as needed.

Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, and telephones.
  • Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move files or office materials up to 15–20 pounds.
  • Visual ability to read computer screens, financial documents, and detailed reports.
