Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

~1 min read

Base is looking for a Deployment Operations Specialist (Product Launch) to run the programs that take our newest hardware from pilot into full-scale deployment. You'll own the rollout plan for each new product: what has to be true before it ships wider, who owns each open item, and where the program stands week-to-week.

This is an operational coordination role at the center of a technical program. Engineering, field crews, training, and warehousing all touch a new product launch, and you'll be the person keeping them in sync: running intake for field issues, routing each one to the right owner, tracking it to resolution, and reporting on readiness ahead of each new stage of rollout.

Responsibilities

  • Own the cross-functional rollout plan for new hardware products, tracking from early pilot to broad public launch and flagging risks/blockers along the way.

  • Drive new product readiness across the Deployments teams: field operations, training, logistics, warehousing. Chase down open items that slip.

  • Coordinate pilot builds and installs — scheduling, materials, crew assignments, permitting. Then evolve those processes for deployment at scale.

  • Run intake for field issues on new and in-pilot hardware, routing issues to the right engineering owner and tracking to resolution.

  • Write and maintain playbooks, field-facing instructions, and issue logs so lessons from one pilot don't get relearned on the next.

  • Author weekly program updates for engineering and leadership: what's fixed, what's open, what’s at risk, and how the program is progressing as a whole.

  • 2+ years in technical program management, project coordination, or operations.

  • Comfort with technical detail. You can follow an engineering conversation, write up a defect accurately, and ask the right follow-up questions.

  • Strong documentation habits: schedules, issue logs, and playbooks other people can actually use

  • Clear written communication — status updates and escalations leadership can act on without a meeting

  • Organized under pressure, able to track dozens of open items at once as priorities shift

  • Comfortable with tools like Jira, Grafana, or Retool (or the kind of person who picks them up fast)

  • A 4-year degree, or equivalent hands-on operations or field experience

The Deployment Product Launch team takes Base’s newest products from prototype and pilot into full-scale deployment: driving cross-functional operational readiness for new hardware products, tracking every issue that shows up in the field, and feeding learnings back to engineering teams. On this team, you will build real expertise in how our hardware gets designed, built, tested, and deployed at scale, and you'll have direct influence over what ships next. We move quickly, stay close to the details, and work cross-functionally to keep deployments moving forward while building the foundation for long-term scale.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
