About BDO Zambia Limited

BDO Zambia Limited is a member firm of BDO International, one of the world’s leading networks of public accounting, tax, and advisory firms. We are committed to delivering exceptional client service, insight-driven solutions, and sustainable value to our clients across diverse industries.

Manager, Advisory BDO Zambia — Lusaka

We are hiring a Manager in our Advisory practice to own client engagements end-to-end and help grow the practice in Zambia. This is a delivery and business-building role, not a purely technical one. If you want to run engagements, develop a team, and be measured on both quality and growth, read on.

What you will actually do

You will lead a portfolio of advisory engagements across transaction advisory, due diligence, and capital raising.

In your first year, success looks like running five to ten concurrent engagements on time and within budget, personally leading five to eight proposals, and building direct working relationships with clients in mining and energy, corporates, banks, manufacturing, and mid-market firms. You will manage a team of seven and be accountable for their output and their development. You will report to the Director responsible for Advisory.

Client work and deadlines take priority. You will balance commercial goals with delivery, ensuring neither is sacrificed. A large part of your week is dedicated to reviews and managing people, rather than solely focusing on your own analysis. If you find this combination unappealing, this role may not suit you.

What you need

  1. A professional accountancy qualification in current good standing: CA Zambia, ACCA, or CIMA.
  2. Active ZICA membership.
  3. The Zambia Qualifications Authority must validate any foreign qualifications.
  4. Six or more years in advisory, consulting, or closely related professional services, including at least three years running engagements and managing people.
  5. Evidence that you have delivered engagements that clients paid for and came back for. We weigh what you have delivered over the years on a CV.
  6. A relevant master's, a CFA, or a PMP is useful, particularly for transaction and valuation work, but not required. We hire on demonstrated capability.

What we offer

Remuneration is benchmarked against the Lusaka professional services market and reviewed annually.

Apart from a competitive salary, we provide a clear pathway for advancement to Senior Manager and Associate Director levels, opportunities to engage with BDO's international network on cross-border projects, support for study and professional memberships, and earlier direct client responsibility than most firms of our size.

How to apply

A detailed CV with two traceable referees.

A short cover letter built around one question: describe one advisory engagement you led, your specific contribution, and the outcome. We will read this section first.

Applications must be submitted on or before 28th May 2026.

Only successful candidates will be contacted.
