We are recruiting Support Workers to join a newly established team supporting an 18-year-old young man as he transitions to his new home from North Tyneside to Newcastle. He has an infectious smile and enjoys animated films such as Ice Age and Madagascar. He loves long walks and sensory experiences, including relaxing baths in a low-stimulation environment. This is an active and engaging role where you will help create positive daily experiences, build trusting relationships, and support him to achieve the best possible outcomes.

We are seeking experienced, compassionate, and values-driven individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience supporting people with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
  • An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • The physical fitness required for an active, hands-on support role.
  • Resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm and professional in complex and demanding situations.

Resilience is a key part of this role. The young man you will be supporting can experience periods of distress and may communicate his needs in ways that require a consistent, patient, and supportive response. Being resilient enables you to remain focused, reflective, and compassionate, helping to create a safe and predictable environment while supporting positive outcomes.

You'll be part of a close-knit team where consistency, effective communication, and mutual support are essential. The ability to learn from experiences, maintain professional boundaries, and remain committed to delivering high-quality support is vital.

PMVA training will be provided, so previous certification is not essential.
