The Dean of Student Services provides leadership and administrative direction for Student services and programs that support and enhance the mission of Bethel University and the Office of Student Life. The Dean of Student Services also serves as a leader in collaborative efforts with other areas of the University, particularly retention, academic success and First Year Experience. The Dean of Student Services contributes to strategic planning, facility and housing management, staff supervision, and the development of a safe, healthy, inclusive learning environment for Bethel University students.


Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for administrative and programmatic oversight and coordination of Student Life, Conduct and Community Standards, Student Crisis and Mental Health, and Housing and Residential Life.
  2. Serves on Student Life Leadership Team and leads Student Life alongside the Vice President for Student Development and University Affairs.
  3. Collaborates with the vice presidents, deans and other staff to promote and implement the strategic direction set for University, and in particular on those directions that will be created in the strategic plan for student persistence and retention, academic success, spiritual development and life on campus, and student wellness overall.
  4. Co-lead Student Life collaborative learning outcome assessment planning, strategy, and implementation.
  5. Lead and direct development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs to provide efficient and effective services that support the University mission, particularly as it relates to the whole-person development of students.
  6. Represent the interests and resources of Student Life in a variety of contexts with students, and, as appropriate, parents.
  7. Respond to emergency/crisis situations as needed, including coordination of communication with Wellness Center, faculty and staff, healthcare providers and families.
  8. Assist Title IX Coordinator in cases involving students, either directly or indirectly.
  9. Serve on the Incident Management Team (IMT).
  10. Serve as a committee member on University and Student Life committees, as appointed.
  11. Represent University through leadership in national, regional and local organizations.
  12. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to manage budgets with precision and wisdom.
