The Recruiter is responsible for executing a full-cycle recruitment process that supports The Bowery Mission’s goals and strategic staffing needs. This position collaborates closely with hiring managers across all departments to ensure a consistent, efficient, and mission-aligned hiring experience. Primary responsibilities include sourcing and attracting qualified candidates, conducting initial screening interviews, and guiding candidates and hiring managers through each phase of the recruitment process, from drafting job postings to offer extension. The Recruiter also maintains recruitment data and contributes to ongoing improvements in hiring strategies and processes. This role is essential to building a talented and mission-driven workforce, identifying qualified individuals who are in alignment with the organization’s Statement of Faith.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with hiring managers across departments. Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with hiring managers in all departments. Guide hiring managers through the full recruitment process, including requisitions, job posting, candidate review, interviewing, and offer decisions.
- Proactively source candidates through mission-aligned job boards, social media, community outreach, employee referrals, church partnerships, and professional networks. Actively manage job postings across job boards and company website to ensure accurate communication of current openings.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of diverse, mission-aligned candidates for current and future openings.
- Represent the organization positively in the talent marketplace, promoting the non-profit’s mission and culture. Proactively attend career fairs and networking events to represent and promote the organization.
- Review resumes and conduct phone screens to assess candidate fit based on qualifications and alignment with organizational values. Conduct structured initial interviews to evaluate experience, skills, and cultural fit.
- Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure a positive experience. Oversee job requisition and referencing processes. Ensure each step of the process is in alignment with appropriate employment and labor laws and best practices. Extend offers to selected candidates and initiate onboarding steps.
- Track candidate progress and maintain accurate recruitment data and metrics. Provide reports and insights to improve the effectiveness of recruitment strategies. Contribute to the improvement of hiring processes to support the organization’s growth and mission impact.
Requirements:
- Embraces the organization’s Statement of Faith.
- 3+ years' experience in recruitment, human resources, talent acquisition, or a related HR function
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven ability to work with all levels of management.
- Strong interpersonal and administrative skills.
Preferred:
- Prefer: PHR/SHRM Certification.
- Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $70,000 - $75,000 annually.
