Job Title: Fleet Coordinator
Status: Part-Time, Hourly (≤25 hours per week)
Pay Range: $19–$23 per hour
Reports to: Assistant Director of Operations

 

The Fleet Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing fleet operations for New Hanover & Brunswick County, ensuring all transportation needs for afterschool programs, field trips, and summer camp events are met efficiently. This role requires scheduling and coordinating drivers, maintaining bus safety and cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate drivers for daily routes, field trips, and events, ensuring proper CDL or mini-bus driver coverage.
  • Serve as a backup CDL driver as needed to prevent last-minute scheduling issues.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Operations to streamline scheduling and ensure effective communication with staff and drivers.
  • Ensure all buses are fueled, maintained, and meet safety requirements according to regulations.
  • Keep up with bus logs, inspections, and necessary safety documentation.
  • Oversee bus cleanliness and coordinate routine maintenance in collaboration with the Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards for fleet operations.
  • Monitor the condition of the fleet and report any damage or needed repairs.
  • Maintain clear communication with school staff, parents, and the public regarding transportation logistics.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement required.
  • Must be at least 25 years old with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to schedule and manage multiple drivers and routes efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform minor vehicle inspections/cleaning.

This position is key to ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of Club members, supporting the organization's commitment to providing a positive and structured environment for youth programs.
