Primary Function:
The Regional Director of Operations oversees day-to-day operations across all Clubs and sites in New Hanover and Brunswick County. This role works closely with the Assistant Operations Director to support and manage Unit Directors and Program Directors, ensuring consistent execution of programs, processes, and Club standards. The regional director plays a key role in maintaining smooth daily operations, supporting staff training and development, fostering community collaborations and partnerships, overseeing the regional budget, and ensuring that recruitment and retention goals are met to drive organizational growth and impact.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strong leadership and direction to units and Program Directors across the region, ensuring they effectively support their teams and drive high-quality program execution and Club operations.
- Ensure all Clubs consistently follow organizational policies, safety guidelines, and BGCA standards to maintain a safe and structured environment for youth, staff, and visitors.
- Monitor and support the implementation of daily operational systems and processes to ensure smooth and effective functioning of all Club sites in the region.
- Oversee regional budget planning and management, working closely with the Finance team and site leadership to develop, adhere to, and monitor Club budgets, while ensuring responsible spending and resource allocation.
- Support the development and monitoring of annual membership recruitment and retention plans to maintain and grow youth participation across all locations.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Operations Director and HR to guide staff performance management, training, and development, ensuring team leaders are equipped to coach, support, and evaluate their teams effectively.
- Provide leadership in managing parent and youth disciplinary concerns by supporting Site Directors with escalated matters and ensuring consistency in communication and resolution practices.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with caregivers, schools, civic organizations, and community leaders to strengthen Club visibility and deepen regional engagement.
- Assist in volunteer and community advisory group engagement, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and enhancing program support.
- Lead or participate in internal committees and regional initiatives, including operational planning, training development, and program quality assurance.
- Provide accurate reports and data analysis to support grant compliance, fundraising efforts, and internal performance evaluations, ensuring timely submission of all required documentation.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close contact with club staff (professional and volunteer) and Administrative Office Staff to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel.
External: Builds relationships and maintains contact with external community groups, agencies, schools, United Way, board members, and others as needed to network, collaborate, and assist in resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This is largely a sedentary role. However, it may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The job is performed in an average office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment required. Ambient temperature between 68 and 76°F. Travel to Club Sites was required, as well as some outdoor activity. Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel outside the county.
OPERATIONS FUNCTIONS
- Oversee the assessment, planning, organization, and implementation of programs across all Club locations to ensure they effectively meet member needs and organizational goals.
- Lead initiatives to promote and increase member engagement in club activities and special events, including those outside regular hours and standard programming.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of programs and activities to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and improve service delivery.
- Champion recognition and celebration of club member achievements across the region.
- Coordinate and manage interclub events and multi-site activities, including sports, camps, holiday programs, and National Boys & Girls Club Week, ensuring seamless execution across all locations.
- Provide leadership and operational support for staff and members attending B&GCA conferences, ensuring successful participation.
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
- Partner with the VPO to implement organizational policies, strategic goals, and program initiatives across the region.
- Directly supervise program and operational personnel as outlined in the organizational structure, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Support the VPO in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of program staff.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, and management to maximize community involvement and support.
FACILITY & ASSET MANAGEMENT
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Operations to compile and monitor equipment and supply needs across locations.
- Manage requisitioning and distribution of supplies and equipment to ensure program continuity.
- Assist the CEO and VPO in conducting regular inventories of equipment and program supplies to maintain operational readiness.
- Ensure proper safeguarding and maintenance of all Club equipment and resources.
- Oversee regular safety drills, including building evacuations, to maintain compliance and member safety.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP
- Maintain accurate program statistics, operational reports, and performance metrics to inform leadership decisions.
- Ensure timely reporting of all injuries or incidents involving members, staff, and volunteers to the VPO within 24 hours.
- Provide day-to-day operational supervision and guidance to program-related staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the VPO to support organizational success and growth.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience, is required.
- A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in working with Boards and Community Groups.
- Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
- Demonstrated computer skills.

- The candidate must be able to drive and have access to a personal vehicle.
- The candidate should be prepared to work during evening hours as needed and make necessary trips out of town for training and other events.
