The Department for Education has announced that the British Council is set to take on the role of National Agency for Erasmus+. In December the UK and EU arrived at a political agreement that the UK would rejoin the Erasmus+ scheme in 2027. That agreement has now been legally formalised under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement. The British Council has a longstanding commitment to supporting international exchange. It was a lead partner in the Erasmus+ UK National Agency from 2014-20, where Erasmus+ made a significant contribution to the UK's cultural relations activities, funding 8,091 projects, engaging 583,757 UK participants, and awarding around €1.1 billion to UK organisations. Job Title: Erasmus+ Senior Eurodesk Manager Pay Band: Grade 8 Salary: £38,820 gross per annum plus £3,300 per annum London Market Allowance for those in the London area only. Contract Duration: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract with possibility of extension Location: Belfast Right to Work Requirements: Current right to work in the UK. Role Purpose: The Erasmus+ Senior Eurodesk Manager will be responsible for leading the strategic planning and delivery of the Eurodesk service within the Erasmus+ programme. You will manage national Eurodesk operations, oversee partner networks, and ensure high-quality information, outreach, and engagement activities that support participation -particularly among underrepresented groups, while aligning with wider Erasmus+ and organisational priorities. Main Responsibilities: * Leading the national Eurodesk strategy and delivering services aligned with Eurodesk quality standards, youth information principles, and Erasmus+ priorities. * Translating European Commission priorities into effective UK delivery plans that respond to youth mobility, inclusion, and participation policies. * Overseeing planning, reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Eurodesk activities and programme outcomes. * Managing and supporting the national Eurodesk partner network, including multipliers, youth organisations, and local authorities. * Building partner capability through training, capacity-building programmes, and collaborative knowledge sharing. * Driving national outreach campaigns to promote Erasmus+ opportunities to young people and youth workers. * Developing inclusive engagement strategies that increase participation among underrepresented groups, particularly young people with fewer opportunities. * Managing budgets and ensuring compliant, effective use of Erasmus+ funding in line with programme requirements. * Building strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including the European Commission, Eurodesk Brussels Link, youth sector organisations, and government bodies. * Leading teams by line managing staff, coaching performance, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective resource planning. Role Specific Knowledge & Experience: Essential * Managing programmes or services in youth, education, or international mobility * Delivering or working within Erasmus+ or similar funded programmes * Managing networks or partnerships across multiple stakeholders * Leading outreach or engagement activity targeting young people * Managing budgets and compliance within funded programmes * Leading teams or staff, including performance management * Experience engaging with policy, sector or funding stakeholders and translating strategic priorities into programme delivery. Desirable * Knowledge of the Eurodesk network, tools, and operating model * Understanding of UK youth policy landscape and participation frameworks * Awareness of widening participation / inclusion strategies in mobility programmes * Familiarity with digital marketing and campaign delivery (e.g. social media analytics, audience targeting) * Knowledge of non-formal learning recognition tools (e.g. Youthpass) * Experience working within youth information, youth participation or youth engagement services Specific Requirements * Degree or equivalent work experience. * Programme/Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, PMP) British Council supports working in new ways such as hybrid working, subject to full approval by line management and conditional upon our ability to provide the appropriate level of service.
