Role purpose:
This role supports the English and School Education programme team in the implementation of programmes and contracts in compliance with British Council policies and procedures including financial admin, reporting and data collection, evaluation, operational project delivery and managing relations with delivery partners.
Role Accountabilities:
This role is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of projects and programmes through strong project coordination, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. The individual works independently to manage competing priorities, ensure project activities are delivered on time, and hold vendors and suppliers accountable for providing quality services. They also build and maintain productive relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders to support programme objectives.
A key aspect of the role is financial and operational management, including budget planning, expenditure monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting to programme leadership. The position requires maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely vendor payments through SAP Finance, and adhering to British Council financial policies, audit requirements, and external partner compliance standards.
The role also supports project implementation through data management, monitoring and reporting, grants administration, procurement, due diligence, records management, and event and training delivery. Responsibilities include ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis, supporting compliance processes, and contributing to programme monitoring and evaluation requirements. Additionally, the role promotes equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism by fostering an inclusive culture, supporting wellbeing, addressing personal biases, and actively embedding the British Council’s EDI principles into daily activities and programme delivery.
Role specific knowledge and experience
Essentials
* Bachelor’s degree is required
* Experience of working in a supporting role on programmes or contracts.
* Administrative and financial administration and reporting experience.
* Good understanding of basic concepts of monitoring and evaluation, and how they are central to good project management.
* Experience of working with external partners and stakeholders
Desirables
* Experience of working on teacher education projects (delivered online, face-to-face or blended)
