Role Description & Purpose
We are seeking 2 passionate and dedicated Part-Time Teachers of English to join our team, delivering a rewarding and stimulating learning experience for students of diverse backgrounds. In this role, you will play a key part in promoting high-quality teaching and ensuring effective learning outcomes, while contributing to the wider cultural relations mission of the British Council.
As a Teacher of English, you will support the organisation’s global English strategy by delivering engaging and impactful lessons that meet the highest standards of English Language Teaching. You will help strengthen the British Council’s reputation as a leading authority in ELT through your professionalism, subject expertise, and commitment to excellence in the classroom. You will also actively engage in continuous professional development, contributing to a culture of learning by sharing best practice with colleagues and embracing opportunities to enhance your own teaching skills.

Role Accountabilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed English Language Teacher to plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, considering individual learning styles and preferences. In this role, you will ensure that all teaching aligns with British Council Global Teaching Standards, as well as organisational expectations and learner needs, while continuously monitoring student progress and providing regular, constructive feedback to support performance and encourage learner autonomy.
You will take an active role in maintaining excellence in teaching and learning by engaging in ongoing professional development and performance management, ensuring that your practice reflects the latest developments in English Language Teaching and contributes to the organisation’s reputation for quality. Working as part of a collaborative teaching team, you will attend staff meetings and contribute to the development, evaluation and improvement of courses, materials and services so they continue to meet the evolving needs of students.
Beyond the classroom, you will support the teaching centre’s wider activities and plans, assisting with local marketing and promotional initiatives and helping deliver an outstanding customer experience through clear communication and effective information sharing with students. You will also complete all teaching-related administrative tasks to a high standard, consistently demonstrating professional responsibility and upholding the organisation’s values in all aspects of your work.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with students and colleagues will be central to your role, alongside promoting awareness of the British Council’s cultural relations mission. You will encourage learners to develop an understanding of the UK, its values and culture, and create opportunities for meaningful intercultural engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
You will also ensure full compliance with organisational policies and guidelines, particularly in relation to safeguarding, data protection, equality, diversity and inclusion, special educational needs and disability, and health and safety, maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Language proficiency: Near‑native English; CEFR C2 / IELTS Academic 8.0+ in all four skills
* Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Certificate TESOL (TEFLi) or equivalent
* You will be required to join the British Council Teacher Support Programme (TSP)
Desirable
* Up to 2 years post-certificate experience (TEFLi) (and/or equivalent to 1,200 hours). Experience in teaching relevant age groups to be specified by the centre
• Primary aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours)
• Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours)
• Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours)
• University/Vocational students aged 18 to 25 (400+hours)
• Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)
Important Information
* Location: The position is based in Algiers. The teacher will be required to work from our teaching centre.
* Contract Hours: 28.5 contracted hours, inclusive of 18h teaching.
Working pattern and timings depend on business needs. This is an onsite only position; no online teaching will be expected. We may accept applications only from teachers who will commit to teaching onsite in our center.
* Contract Type: This is a fixed term contract, part time position.
* Salary: 73,000-84,000 DZD Gross, depending on experience and qualifications. Food allowance 5,000 DZD. Transportation allowance 2,000 DZD.
* Leave Entitlement : Annual leave 25 days + 14 public holidays
* Right to Work: The candidates must have legal right to live and work in Algeria.
* Background Screening: all successful candidates are obliged to undergo comprehensive background screening, including a toxicology blood test.
* Closing Date: 22nd July 2026.
