The Student Accounts Manager plays a critical role in supporting student success by ensuring a clear, accurate, and compassionate student billing experience. This position oversees student accounts operations while serving as a trusted resource for students and families navigating tuition, fees, payments, and financial obligations. The ideal candidate brings a strong customer service mindset, excellent leadership skills, and accounting acumen. 

Responsibilities

  1. Lead Student Accounts Operations & Team Performance
    Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for student accounts functions, including billing, payments, refunds, and collections. Supervise, coach, and develop staff to deliver high-quality service while meeting operational and performance metrics.
  2. Drive Data-Informed Decision Making & Financial Accuracy
    Monitor and analyze key metrics (receivables, aging, account trends) to inform strategy and improve outcomes. Ensure accurate reconciliation of student accounts and maintain strong financial controls and reporting practices.
  3. Champion a Human-First, Student-Centered Experience
    Resolve complex or sensitive account issues with professionalism, empathy, and discretion. Balance institutional policies with individualized support to ensure students feel heard, respected, and supported.
  4. Optimize Payment Solutions & Student Accessibility
    Oversee administration of payment plans and account options, aligning compliance requirements with flexible, student-focused solutions that promote persistence and financial clarity.
  5. Ensure Compliance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Maintain adherence to FERPA, Title IV, and institutional policies while fostering a collaborative environment with Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, Advising, and IT to create a seamless and supportive student experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, higher education administration, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory role in the area of sales, collections, customer service, or student financial services in a call center environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer service in a complex, policy-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information in a clear, student-friendly way
  • Performance management experience including coaching to achieve specific metrics each week/month/year 

 

Requirements

  • Experience working directly with students in a college or university setting
  • Familiarity with Title IV regulations and higher education compliance
  • Experience with Banner application

 

 

  • Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to effectively exchange and convey detailed, time-sensitive information in person and via telephone, with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

$71,500 – 76,500

 

Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. Information about the total compensation package will be provided during the interview process.
