We are seeking applications from experienced persons to assist in our Foundry operations across a number of roles, including Melt Deck Technician, Moulder and CNC Machinist.
The suitable candidates must be trade qualified in the engineering fabrication trade with at least 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the Spectrometer Room in the Foundry to ensure customer requirements are met and testing is carried out in an efficient and controlled manner.
- Developing and improving processes within the spectrometer room.
- Setting up, operating and maintaining the spectrometer machine.
- Obtaining, measuring and preparing samples for testing.
- Investigating material failures and recommending corrective and preventive action.
- Overseeing the melt deck operations including the maintenance of equipment including the reordering of goods and services.
- Position patterns inside mould sections and clamp sections together.
- Clean and smooth moulds, cores, and core boxes and repair surface imperfections.
- Sift and pack sand into mould sections, core boxes and pattern contours using hand or pneumatic ramming tools.
- Sprinkle or spray parting agents onto patterns and mould sections to facilitate the removal of patterns from moulds.
- Cut spouts, runner holes and sprue holes into moulds.
- Lift upper mould sections from lower sections and remove moulded patterns.
- Smooth and repair newly formed sand impression of the pattern with hand tools as needed.
- Pour molten metal into moulds, manually or using crane ladles.
- Break the moulds once the metal has cooled to remove the castings.
- Operate ovens or furnaces to bake cores.
- Good ability to read and understand 2D AutoCAD and Inventor drawings.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with trade terminology.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to handle work accurately and swiftly while under extremely tight time constraints.
- Perform General Tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Commitment to work safely and follow established work procedures.
- Capable to work as part of a team environment.
- CNC machine skills are highly necessary.
- Manual lathe and milling machining desirable
