Additional information about the company can be found online at www.bwpipelines.com.   We are currently looking for a Director Safety & Operational Risk in Houston, TX.   JOB PURPOSE:   In this role, you will be accountable for enterprise employee safety, contractor safety, process safety support, operational readiness and operational risk management across all Boardwalk Pipeline assets. This role provides leadership for risk-informed decision-making, field execution, management system effectiveness and cross-functional safety governance.   Duties include:   Ensure all personnel at all levels understand and comply with Boardwalk Pipeline safety requirements Ensure all assets are in compliance with applicable safety laws and regulations Ensure safety audits are scheduled and conducted, and all identified items are closed properly Collaborate regularly with management, engineering, construction, technical services, operations, Region VPs, Area Managers and safety committees to strengthen operational readiness, field execution, risk identification and practical safety solutions Participate in and respond to incidents, investigations, reporting and recommendations to prevent reoccurrence Participate in industry trade organizations such as SGA and INGAA Develop policies and procedures for compliance with government rules, regulations and laws regarding safety requirements and keep the safety manual updated Brief executive management on status of new or developing safety issues Participate on the company crisis management and emergency response team Support any and all departments across the organization with any safety issue Establish and conduct safety compliance training for all employees at all levels Engage with and collaborate with engineering, operations, technical services and legal in matters relating to safety strategic planning and compliance Promote management system effectiveness, PSMS maturity, organizational learning and sustainable risk reduction through incident reviews, audits, corrective actions, lessons learned and continuous improvement activities Liaison with contractors, suppliers, internal audit regarding safety matters Maintain safety department budget Innovate ideas to improve occupational, contractor, process and driving safety performance, including risk-informed work planning, SIMOPS coordination, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, operational risk management and process safety metrics Participate in the Safety Advisory Committee, the Region Safety Committees, and attend safety face-to-face and annual award meetings   REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:   Strategic thinker with a track record of leadership in the pipeline or related energy industry, including safety governance, operational readiness, risk-informed decision-making and management system effectiveness 10+ years’ leadership and management experience in natural gas transmission, oil and gas or related energy industry sector  Experience with operational risk management, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, SIMOPS/work planning, process safety metrics, PSMS concepts, API RP 1173 principles and management system governance Strong verbal and written communication skills to develop programs and training Knowledge and skills of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is a plus) in Safety, Engineering, or related field of study relevant to this position   PREFERRRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:   Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Skilled in Incident Investigation Technical & Procedural Writing     REQUIRED EDUCATION:   Bachelor’s degree Safety, Engineering or related field   PREFERRED EDUCATION:   MS Degree   ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:   Boardwalk Pipelines, LP, maintains a drug-free workplace and will require pre-employment drug & substance abuse testing before hiring.   Boardwalk Pipelines, LP, is an equal opportunity employer.
