Position Summary

As a Tax Associate, you will help deliver tax compliance and planning services to a diverse client base across a variety of industries. Working closely with experienced team members, you will prepare federal and state tax returns, support client engagements, research tax issues, and continue building the technical and professional skills needed for a successful career in public accounting. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

 

What You will Do

  • Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals and business entities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review and organize client-provided financial information and follow up on routine outstanding items.
  • Prepare workpapers and supporting documentation for tax engagements.
  • Research tax questions and summarize findings for senior team members.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and team members on routine matters.
  • Apply feedback from reviewers to improve the quality, accuracy, and efficiency of your work.
  • Use tax software, workflow tools, and Microsoft Office applications to complete assigned work.


Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

Up to two years of relevant tax or accounting experience preferred, including internships.

Strong Excel, communication, organization, and critical thinking skills

Eligibility or progress toward CPA licensure and experience with Thompson Reuters Suite is a plus.

Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with normal lighting, climate control, and minimal noise.


Physical Requirements
•    Sedentary work performed primarily in an office environment.
•    Requires the ability to sit for extended periods and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move about the office occasionally.
•    Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, telephones, printers, and copiers.
•    Requires repetitive use and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
•    Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, read extensively, transcribe information, and view a computer screen.
•    Requires the ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
•    Requires the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds in person and by telephone.
•    May require walking short distances and driving to other office locations or client meetings.
•    Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required to other Byrne Zizzi locations or for client meetings.
