We are looking for a Structural Design Engineer who will manage technical design activities for permanent and temporary structural works.
You will be involved in concept development, design coordination, technical reviews, and support to site teams and project consultants. The role also supports tender activities by providing technical input related to quantities, planning, consultant scope, design feedback, risks, opportunities, and permitting.
In this role, you work closely with senior project managers, site execution teams, consultants, architects, contractors, engineers, and junior team members to ensure structural design packages are technically sound, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements.
• Manage technical aspects and concept development for permanent works structural design packages
• Manage technical aspects and concept development for temporary works structural design packages
• Coordinate with site teams and project consultants under the supervision of senior project managers
• Prepare design reports for complex topics based on calculations using FEM tools
• Perform or review non-linear and time-dependent analyses where required
• Support tender activities by providing technical input on quantities, ratios, design planning, consultant scope of work, FEED design feedback, technical bidding strategies, risks and opportunities, and permitting details
• Define basic design planning steps and finalize design schedules under senior project manager supervision
• Collaborate with site execution teams and department heads to develop safe, complete, and practical technical solutions
• Apply relevant design and building codes including ACI, Eurocodes, and British Standards
• Participate in or lead technical meetings with site teams and project consultants
• Prepare meeting minutes and technical summaries for senior project managers
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure projects meet design specifications and safety standards
• Mentor and train junior engineers and designers
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
• Minimum 7 years of experience in structural engineering
• Experience in temporary works such as tower crane foundations, building anchors, precast lifting, and temporary steel platforms
• Design experience in buildings, stadiums, sewage treatment plants, and marine works such as jetties
• Prior Middle East experience is highly preferred
• Proficient in steel and concrete design
• Skilled in AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, and IDEA StatiCa
• Strong knowledge of ACI, Eurocodes, British Standards, and relevant technical references
• Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• High attention to detail and precision
• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic
• Autonomous, accountable, and communicative
