The Transport Driver is located in Meaford at the Army Training Centre – Central and typically reports directly to the Transport Supervisor. Their primary focus is to perform the duties of Driver – operating various vehicles on base and throughout Ontario. They support military training through the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment.

• →The safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment
• →Maintain a clean and serviceable fleet; washing, greasing etc.
• →Promptly and accurately completing all forms relevant to their duties
• →Maintain a clean and safe work environment; Transport shop floor etc.
• →Displaying good customer service skills at all times.
• →Carrying on their person at all times, a valid civilian permit and DND driver permit, stipulating the equipment they are qualified and authorized to operate;
• →Complies with organizational policies and procedures
• →Performs other tasks as assigned by the dispatcher and the Transportation Manager
• →Perform other assigned tasks, as required.

• High School Diploma

The following certifications/designations are considered an asset

• Knowledge of DND policies and procedures is an additional asset.

• Valid CZ-Class Driver License
• Clean driving record
• 2 years’ experience operating CZ vehicles
• 2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

• Know the correct use, maintenance and safety procedures of the hand tools and powered equipment related to this type of work while applying that knowledge
• Organization and time management
• Excellent oral and written communications skills (English)
• Must be able to achieve and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance

Individuals who successfully complete the interview process and do not already hold a valid security clearance will be sponsored for Secret Security Clearance. To obtain a Secret Security Clearance from the Government of Canada, applicants must undergo a comprehensive 10-year background check. This includes financial and criminal record checks, as well as a security assessment conducted by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). Applicants will be required to provide detailed information covering the past 10 years, including employment, education, and residency history. For this reason, continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is a mandatory requirement.
