Principal Architect: Amazon Web Services (AWS)

You will take a leading role in shaping and delivering transformative Amazon Web Services (AWS) programmes for our clients. You will bring your expertise to bear by supporting clients in designing new and innovative cloud-native platforms and capabilities, adopting cloud computing, and modernising legacy estates. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will define cloud architecture strategies and visions while delivering AWS-based solutions that create real business impact.

Your role will bridge the gap between senior stakeholders and engineering teams, translating architectural vision into practical delivery. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams working at pace, while also contributing to commercial activity and promoting delivery excellence across our Technology & Engineering Practice through mentoring junior talent, thought leadership, and engagement in the wider cloud community. You'll embrace approved AI-enabled tools and automation to accelerate architecture design, improve technical analysis, enhance documentation and delivery quality, while applying responsible AI principles, human judgement and appropriate governance throughout solution delivery.

• Lead enterprise-scale AWS architecture engagements, defining cloud strategies, target architectures and transformation roadmaps for major financial services organisations.
• Design secure, scalable and resilient cloud-native platforms using AWS services, modern integration patterns and distributed architectures across hybrid technology landscapes.
• Advise senior stakeholders on cloud adoption, migration, modernisation and investment decisions while leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through complex delivery programmes.
• Apply modern engineering practices including DevOps, agile delivery and cloud automation, leveraging approved AI-enabled workflows where appropriate to improve productivity, architectural quality and delivery outcomes while maintaining human oversight and governance.
• Contribute to Capco's Technology & Engineering Practice through mentoring, thought leadership, community engagement and supporting strategic business development opportunities.

• Extensive experience designing enterprise and solution architectures on AWS, supported by relevant AWS professional certifications.
• Proven expertise across cloud strategy, enterprise transformation, distributed architectures, security, DevOps and recognised architecture frameworks including TOGAF, Zachman or Domain-Driven Design.
• Strong consulting and stakeholder management experience with the ability to influence senior technology and business leaders across complex transformation programmes.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and delivering large-scale cloud transformations within Financial Services.
• A curiosity for AI-enabled ways of working and an understanding of how approved AI tools, automation and responsible AI governance can enhance architecture delivery while maintaining appropriate review, auditability and human judgement.
• Senior consulting or practice leadership experience.
• AWS Professional certifications and additional enterprise architecture qualifications.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale data and AI platforms, including Generative AI, Agentic AI and AWS-native AI services such as SageMaker and Bedrock, with an understanding of responsible AI implementation and governance.
• Experience designing secure multi-account AWS landing zones with strong security guardrails and governance.
• Experience launching greenfield cloud-native ventures or innovative digital platforms.
