This position will be stationed in Poway Responsible for the planning, monitoring, development and implementation of the  Mental Health and Disabilities content service areas in the Children and Family Service program. Includes training staff and presenting, observing and working with children and families, and consulting with staff (Content Area Coordinators, Area Manager, and program staff). Supports CAPSLO’s mission by ensuring the Head Start and Early Head Start Mental Health and Disabilities program runs effective for all families who are involved. What we're looking for in the ideal candidate: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: social work, counseling, human development, psychology, early childhood, ABA therapy, or special education. Minimum two (2) years of experience in providing services to children and families. Fluency in two or more languages, including one that supports the needs of the program and community is preferred, but not required Must have previous experience working with adults and conducting trainings. As the Behavioral Health & Disabilities Coordinator you will: Train staff and parents on IDEA, Head Start Performance Standards, and disability rights. Provide guidance on identifying, evaluating, and referring children for further assessment. Support staff in using developmental screenings and making referrals for special services. Ensure understanding of mental health protocols and standards across the program. Lead outreach and recruitment efforts for children with disabilities. Train staff on child development, behavior concerns, and mental health observation. Observe children monthly and offer practical support to teaching staff. Collaborate on budgeting to meet IFSP/IEP needs and ensure appropriate placements. Train staff on data systems for tracking mental health and disability services. Maintain interagency agreements with schools, SELPAs, and Regional Centers. Act as liaison between program staff and external agencies. Monitor services and consult with staff as needed. Support smooth transitions for children with disabilities. Collect and analyze data for program improvement and compliance. Meet with parents to discuss mental health and disability concerns. Collaborate across departments to integrate mental health into all content areas. Manage contracts with mental health consultants and ensure compliance. Share consultant recommendations with centers for implementation. Ensure staff attend IEP/IFSP and transition meetings. Track and support implementation of IEP/IFSP goals.
